Bunch of great games ruined by rain again today. Looking forward to someone trying to say that the changes to toss/pitches are leading to too many draws though.

Makes it interesting for later in the season I guess as all the sides are close in the table and a couple of good results will put you up the top and a couple of bad ones leave you struggling.

Anyone think of a good reason why the first few rounds of county championship games couldn't have started on Saturdays? I understand that when they start playing T20s on Friday nights they'll need Saturday as a travel day, but there seems no reason not to utilise the whole weekend at the moment. So many blank Saturdays right through the season compared to what we used to get.

Yesterday's deluge was widely forecast and makes Leicester's not enforcing the follow-on look downright stupid. Is Cosgrove known as a defensive captain?

Injuries starting to mount up for the yorkshire bowlers. Willey out for 6 weeks. Fisher has done his hamstring and is out for a few weeks. No news on a return for Sidebottom yet. Bresnan playing a second team game this week so should be back in the next couple of weeks.

Doesn't matter at present as no games are finishing anyway.

Maybe follows the Australian mantra of just blindly not enforcing the follow-on against all common sense and logic because they spectacularly imploded against India once.

Yeah, feels a bit of a farse this doesn't it. I know it is the same every year. Annoying though, reckon we will struggle to get much play in the first few Sri Lanka tests.

So a session and a half, dry but overcast weather, 160 runs ahead and only 5 wickets remaining... How can we contrive to draw this?

Lancashire and Hampshire on the brink - nine down at Old Trafford. And some serious wobbling from Surrey, who looked fine while Davies and Sanga were adding 100 earlier.

...and Kerrigan does it, cutting through a bottom order of not awful batsmen resolute on defending out the match. Really is a better bowler than most England fans care to believe.

I do hope that at some point this summer Kegs and Parry get a run out together in a Championship match or three

More likely to be Kerrigan and Lilley I think - IIRC Lilley got quite a few games last year and did ok and is probably a better bat than Parry.

Anyway, great win - weather was awful when I drove south from Manchester this morning so must have brightened up sharpish.

Definitely didn't brighten up, just stayed dry. Suns only now making its first appearance.

Just the kind of weather you want on a day 4 pitch when bowling to a side following on I suppose

Livingstone looks a pretty handy part timer leggie for lancs on the highlights package. Got one to rip square and then got Tino out with a googly.

Parkinson bowls leggies too doesn't he. Haven't seen him bowl yet but got a ringing endorsement from Kerry O'Keeffe

It's a shame Australia went with Joe Burns, because judging by his performances this season Cameron Bancroft would have fit right in to the post-Ashes Australia side.
