Black caps need to have a look at their batting order AFAIC, for me they have too many stoke-players in their top-order, so whereas on a flat deck they might flay opposition attacks, but on a decks like these where there is something in it for the bowlers, they just seem to lack the technique and application required to succeed.

Vettori for mine is batting a bit low at no.8, he should be batting in the top 6 in such conditions, and stroke-players like Oram and Broom should have been batting at 7 and 8 respectively.

Mills gone, and with that any chance of New Zealand posting a figthing total are also gone, I guess they should take their batting PP now.

Makes Harbhajan look a bit of a clown. 7 overs, no wickets for 35.
I think people underestimate Yuvraj's bowling, but he is more than a part-timer especially in such conditions, the slowish pace at which he bowls makes it pretty hard to put him away, and for a part-timer he is pretty accurate as well, reminds me a bit of Darren Lehmann with the ball.

Vettori batting too low as some one just mentioned a few posts back.
He isn't, he is nowhere near the force in ODIs that he is in Tests.
Plus he only averages 15 from a position that often benefits from NOs.

We should experiment with Ryder-Guptill opening, McCullum @ 7 and Broom @ 3.

He's giving Butler far too much strike too. Hopefully he takes some responsibility at the death (if it gets that far).

Butler isn't a slouch with the day these days, since his back injury he's been working on it alot.
I would hope he'd be the one taking the attack to the bowlers at the death.

(He also has the record for longest six in NZ )

And Bond hit the biggest six I've ever seen at Eden Park.

Hopefully these two can middle a few to ease the pain a bit.

Vettori higher up the order, even if he doesn't play too many strokes, would give solidity to what is a very inconsistent batting line up. He wouldn't do too badly even if he plays his natural game which isn't a lot of hitting.

Mmm. I don't really buy the use of the word "inconsistent" when it comes to ODI batting lineups. There'll always be a few epic ****-ups in ODI batting. It's the nature of the game.

I just think he's a decent option at 5. Although if he's tried it before and it didn't work I guess not.
