Not gone backwards at the speed of light like England has
England has just played Australia so they weren't really expected to win that series.
So what would you be saying if the Windies,SA or India got slaughtered by the Aussies?
England have had one atrocious series. It's hardly going backwards.

I'm starting the campaign to bring our boys back home now. They've suffered enough in a losing cause. How many more Englishmen must die (on their arses)? It's not our war!

I think they need to get Franklin out of the side now. He's dropped 2 sitters in this tournament now and his confidence will have dropped again.

This is the worst fielding by NZ I have seen in a long long time. I don't know if Travis Wilson has anything to do with it but their standards have dramatically slid in the last few months.

McMillan bowled well last night but I feel they'll swap him for Styris as they pretty much offer the same role. I think Styris is definately the more consistent of the two when it comes to batting. NZ have kind of cornered themselves in to keeping Fulton in the team so he needs to come good in one of the last few games.

It's all very well for Franklin to take wickets on a tricky pitch at Adelaide but as soon as he gets onto a track that is suitable for batting, he's fodder.
Gillespie is offering more to the side right now with his pace and the fact that he can also holds catches lol.

What's so impressive about having pace in one day cricket?.

Tim

Pace is essential as long as the bowler can remain accurate. We've seen cases like Nantie Hayward where out and out pace can be extremely in-effective but if you can control fast pace it's extremely vital to a bowling side. Mainly because the batsmen has less time to think about what they're going to do.

You sir are correct

This war is about 2 of your former colonies battling it out

:p

There are so many inaccurate paceman who the England selectors want in the side.Take Mahmood for example.Pace but absolutely no control. The bowler who could be best described as having pace and accuracy in one day cricket are Shane Bond and Andrew Flintoff.

NZ's poor captaincy and fielding

Enough said about our poor fielding for now; it was crap.

Equally bad was Fleming's captaincy IMO. He took too long to bring on the spinners when the track was always going to favour them. When they got Flintoff out and Nixon was scratching around Fleming should have gone for the kill. The required run rate at the time was over 12 and they were scoring around four so the game was gone for ENG. Instead Fleming bowled McMillan for five overs and kept Vettori off for another ten overs. And when he finally brought Bond back into the attack - against the #9 - he didn't have a slip with a required run rate of 20+. Piss poor all round by NZ in the last 25 overs.

It was poor but the game was over by the 30th over. It's no surprise some of the players took their minds off the job. Still, that's no excuse, they should have made a better effort to the finish the job. I wouldn't blame Fleming's captaincy because if NZ had held their catches late on, they would have cleaned them up quicker.

Meh, because it was a spinner's pitch, it was going to be harder to score big runs off them towards the end of the game. Especially with Patel's ability to hit yorkers in the death, and often you can restrict easier where the batsman can hit runs to and put players in the deep there.

I know you like to follow Vettori's bowling Jack. What do you make of his current form?

Plunkett's averages are 20 & 40 (ish for both). Much like Giles in Tests, if he could only turn them round he could be considered a world-class all-rounder. Damn shame.
He's only young though. If England stop taking him on holidays around the world and let him work on his game at domestic level, I think he could well end up a very good bowling allrounder.

Yeah that makes sense, drop one of your better performing players in this series, and further weaken the batting potential.

Peter Fulton doesn't look international class and is clearly the one to make way.

McMillan has only made double figures once in the series, and should have been out in single figures on that occasion.

He has bowled well, but Styris will perform better with both bat and ball.

FFS, can't believe we didn't get a bonus point there. Absolutely atrocious fielding.

For the next game, I'd swap Styris for McMillan, Mills for Franklin and depending on the pitch, Gillespie for Patel. Patel was pretty disappointing last night, on a turning pitch he should have done far better than 1-53.

Fulton has at least been consistently getting starts. But he will need to convert one of these starts into a decent score sometime soon.
Styris has a much cooler head on him than McMillan does and is more likely to battle out a tough period of play.
Plus for the balance of the side it makes sense just to do the straight swap for McMillan as Styris normally bats at #5.
