in fairness he was plenty quick tonight. made every batsman who faced him visibly uncomfortable
Yeah, but quicker is quicker. He's not a 150+ bowler currently. I haven't been able to watch tonight, but he's never bowled with better than below average control for this level when I've watched him.

not sure what his speeds were - we're not getting them displayed at the ground - but this is the first time I've seen him since he really got talked about a lot that he seemed to actually be properly beating the batsman for pace, which would suggest high 140s at least occasionally

Saw one from him clocked at 148, some others around 143-144, but the speedgun only seemed operational for maybe a quarter of the deliveries tops

Quickest I saw Jhye registeted at was 141 for the sake of comparison

Anyway, this season is a complete write off for the Strikers now (if it wasn't already). Honestly I would just like to see a couple more homegrown guys get a chance for the rest of the games

Strikers batting lineup at expiry date and not fresh since late last decade. D'Arcy Short, Ross, Weatherald and Lynn would have been formidable circa BBL|08. True the SACAs also relying on interstate talent but at least guys came in with some upside McSweeney, Sangha etc.

I think the Ollie Pope recruitment was a good idea that hasn't paid off so far. Fabian Allen injury a blow but confusing as to why they would recruit him when they had a reasonable spin dept. in Boyce, Pope and maybe could have retained Manenti if they had wanted to. Would have been good if they could have beaten other teams to the signatures of Seifert or the other F. Allen.

Mark Waugh criticising James Vince for having his front foot nowhere near the line of the ball then segues to highlights of James Vince’s ton the other night where he’s constantly clearing his front leg and describes it as “classical stroke play, particularly through the off side.”
