It still looks like he's in decent form but he's getting frustrated far too much and getting out before he's made a score of substance. The big question is whether he has the temperment to make it. I'm growing more skeptical, as other than a few months he's kind of always been like this and isn't as young as people think.

If I hadn't already seen Konstas really knuckling down for a long stay in tough conditions I'd actually be quite concerned by how willing he was to play unorthodox shots

Davies wasn't a pathway kid was he? Remember getting pissed off that he wasn't getting games ahead of sangha and the other rabble a few seasons back.

I think that's why Konstas is so special, he seems to be the only young bat who has genuine gears instead of batting in just one way (maybe Kellaway is another one who can go up the gears but even he's been in his shell a lot for most of his career).

I thought Kellaway was the real deal but he just isn't breaking out. I worry he has the opposite problem tbh; he barely seems willing to play a shot in anger half the time

It's an odd one as while he should've gotten Shield games earlier than he did, he was definitely seen as a player of interest from NSW from a young age. So a borderline inclusion, maybe.

He was all through junior levels. Aus Under 19 skipper iirc. Was playing ones at Manly at about 16 I think, and they're definitely an insider club.

But yeah, had the other ineffective foetuses ahead of him at senior level for NSW for whatever reason.

Yeah that's kind of what I meant, he's not quite as much of a blocker as Chandrasinghe and Wyllie are but he's still someone who's playing too defensive. Might be a victim of bad Shield pitches/playing too high up the order.

He has seemed to improve a little bit this year though.
