One thing I wonder, is there a requirement to play overseas players even thought they're crap? The Strikers subbed Briggs out a couple of times, but otherwise it's been a consistent theme over the seasons. I still remember the Thunder playing Andre Russell when he was injured and troubled when walking.

And ironically enough these were controversial decisions at best. One of them outright backfired. Briggs has been great for them since too (he's even working his way up the batting order).

There's no actual official requirement for them to do so but I suspect they kind of feel obliged to keep up appearances. There'd be a bit of sunk cost fallacy involved too.

This is very much a thing in State cricket. A couple of years ago when Bert was making 1200 in a season and only had a part time NSW contract, they kept picking Sangha (the older, **** one) and Edwards despite them failing at Shield level and also not scoring in grade. They don’t want to admit they’ve signed the wrong blokes
