Who is the connection for Mills at the Heat? I've only see his name on scorecards before so not sure of his ability apart from reading about his speed in his bio. He just seems a very left field pick (not saying he won't perform).

Thisara Perera replacing Bravo and Tymal Mills replacing Badree. Would love to see Mills get a game, even though I think he might get belted.
Goes to show how there really is **** all talented overseas players available for BBL

wish it was more like IPL where your overseas players are actually better than the locals

Dunno, does seem an odd one. He's fast but I've never seen any indication he's got any other good qualities. Not really the most obvious name, especially when replacing a spin bowler.

I dunno, I like that the BBL retains its integrity as a domestic competition.

Wish the fielding standard was better though. It really is dire.

Disagree. Given the limited number of overseas players in BBL due to lots of other international cricket going on in the world elsewhere atm, I'd say the few overseas players have done alright. McCullum's basically been the 2nd or 3rd best bat after Lynn, if you factor SR, Willey was one of the best with the new ball, Morgan got Perth home with 6 off the last ball the other night, Badree & Narine have been a class above in terms of ER, both under 6.5 an over & Ian Bell's been one of the better batsmen in the comp.

So yeah, considering there's so few overseas players in the tournament (as opposed to the min. 4 in every IPL side) & the fact most of the overseas players are retired journeyman, I'd say based on what I cited above, they've done pretty well.

The only ones who've been really disappointing so far are the West Indians, Bravo (due to injury) & Pollard & Russell.

You really can't compare this overseas presence of mainly retired international players, with the IPL who basically have all the best T20 players in the world.

That doesn't mean I don't think it's an awesome competition btw, but you're so wrong in your comment there.

Furthermore, as good as the Heat's batting has been. their bowling has been pretty average overall, so they badly needed an international replacement for Badree, so as a supporter of the Heat I'm pleased to see Mills drafted in.

I like the relative lack of internationals tbh. Makes it still feel genuinely like a domesitc comp.

uh, no. To all of this. Don't even know where to begin to correct it.

For the most part I'd say you've just completely misunderstood my point

Probably because your attempted arrogant kind of comment fell flat on it's face. You were wrong on two counts, 1) There's not that many overseas players compared to IPL & the ones there are mainly ex-international journeyman & 2) The few there have actually done pretty well for themselves if you care to actually look at the stats. .

I wouldn't know where to begin either in responding if I was you. Perhaps do you homework first next time.

And then when we actually do have genuine stars we scare them off by being ****ing morons and accusing them of ***ually harassing our reporters

Agree with this. I like seeing the local Australian talent with just 1-2 internationals in each side. The NZ tournament is similar in that respect.

another swing and a miss

1) is part of the exact point I was making
2) not even remotely relevant

I welcome competitive and even contradictory discussion Zinzan, but leave your boorish and arrogant attitude at the door next time. It's nothing but annoying and makes me respond in kind.

Simple, don't make stupid inaccurate and flat out incorrect statements if you're going to get all upset when corrected. I'm done with this convo, everyone who can read can see you were wrong, you aint fooling anyone. Just take it as a learning.

This is true. The fact that we have half the number of overseas players per side and their still not as good as some reserve IPL players is annoying though. At least if our overseas players were, say Gayle and Badree or their equivalent in each side, it would be good experience for the local players. Instead we've got a mixture of International reserve players and retirees who clearly don't train much anymore (eg. Sangakkara)

4 overseas players per side would be terrible though. Even disregarding that they'd probably struggle to find that many for each side that were any good.

Extra internationals would only be coming if they decided to expand the competition, which would probably be fair enough. I'd hope that they reduce the squads in that case too - the Stars & Renegades both have 18 man squads, but use other outside players (Lawford, Gannon) to replace injured players. Just make it squads of 16 and have the same replacement rules.

Generally the teams are getting better at making the internationals fit their squad, rather than the other way around which could happen a bit in the early part of the BBL.
