*Official* Bangladesh vs Australia Series

*Cough*choke*gag*

The sound of David Hookes eating his words (oh yes).

Dav Whatmore seems to have had an instant effect - psychology I suppose - now if only they can avoid an innings defeat, that will be real progress indeed. Dare they hope for more?

Lee bowled some good ball's but they were few in far in between and sparyed it around and Bangladesh enjoyed facing him. It was not good bowling.
Yeah I agree. It was funny that all day when he bowled those few good length balls he beat the batsman all end's up yet he consistantly tryed to do to much.

He did finnish his spell of well though and his last few overs were actualy really good.

Well that is highly satisfying to see in the morning.

289/8 on a greentop. Great work. If only there weren't so many single-figure failures throughout the innings - it's a great sign for the future and I think a win isn't far off now.

Dav Whatmore is a genius and those of us who have continually supported Bangladesh despite their looking like a County Second XI finally have something to smile about.

Now let's hope they keep it going to 300+ and then (if it's as green as has been said) maybe Mashrafe can cause some mischief if he gets it in the right areas? Backed up by Manjural and Tapash they have the potential to restrict them especially if they bowl as well as they did in Darwin and it's about time Alok Kapali contributed something somewhere.

Dav Watmore is obviously going to be the best thing that happened to Bangladesh. This innings has been great, because so many batsmen have shown promise. Sarker, Hossain, Mashud, and in particular Bashar have shown their qualities. Mashrafe looks the goods and if his back up works tommorro, we could be in for a close game.

Like I was saying to Neil on MSN

It's fantastic to see Bangladesh showing some of their promised at last, but lets just hope it's not a one innings wonder.....

I mean lets just go back a bit and we were all hearing on this forum how record after record was going to fall and how Australia were going to destory Bangladesh to all parts.

After the 1st Test it was Australia were going to deliver more of the same in this Test etc

Yet today Bangladesh are a transformed side they have Australia on the ropes and there's a chance of victory in this Test :O

IMO Australia have bowled poor that's been stated... but that's an off day and we know that the Aussies can bowl far better and no doubt they will in the 2nd Inngs. As for the batsman, Banglandesh might be more of a bowling side, but I think even in helpful conditions Australia's batting will be far to strong for them.

I like everyone would love to see Bangladesh do well, but I think they need a bit more time with Dav Watmore first, hey you never know the apprantly poor English team tour there soon :saint:

I don't think Australia are on the ropes, but they'll be very disappointed that they've let Bangladesh get to 280 after Steve Waugh won the toss.

Let's not go too overboard here.

I am as delighted as anyone over the resiliant performance put up by Bangladesh, but one swallow does not a bellyful of ale make (or something like that).

I should like to think that they have turned the corner after some extremely ropey performances (remember, in their first ever test they topped 400 against India)

I would still say Australia 1/8 odds at present, but who knows? If (I can but hope) Bangladesh can run the Australians close, it will represent the most remarkable turn-round in the side's fortunes and will fully justify the faith that the ICC had in them in the first place.

It will also leave the pundits looking slightly foolish - and that's no bad thing.

Should the unthinkable happen, would Waugh survive as skipper?

Ok I think some people might have miss-interpreted my post, I was trying to say exactly the same as LuckyEddie on how suddenly after one innings everyone seems to have blown the situation overboard.

Bangla have started well, a couple of appeals and after 2 over Australia are 0/0.
Now 21/1 from 8 overs (thanks to 7 from the last over)

this is a very unusual start by Australia. Normally they would have posted 50 by now.

sanwar looking the goods with his off spin...a bit of luck with both wickets though, a don't know what ponting was doing. (chip over infield or big slog)

Deffinstly not a slog he did not try to hit the ball very hard. He was trying to chip it over midwicket and miscued. Bit of a lapse of concerntration.
