I still feel it was a pretty odd decision. CDG wasn't about to cry over it but the 100s column in tests is no small thing. He could have easily had 3 in there now but he has only 1 after 2 declarations on him in the 70s. Could have been two of the top 10 fastest tons too which is also cool and might have really cemented his legacy or his spot at least.

I think its pretty obvious CDG was gonna start swinging hard after KW got his double so not being able to give him 3 more overs to do it seems unnecessarily conservative. This game isn't going anywhere near the final session as we all know

Good win, Bangladesh not great though they should've shown themselves that they're capable of batting big on these flat wickets. Should be better in the second and third tests.

Won't happen but yes please to Ferguson for the next test.

In the end, it turned out to be a perfect declaration, with just enough runs to win by an innings.

Good show in the 2nd dig from Bangladesh, should really have made NZ bat again.

Happy that Watling has overtaken Parore's dismissals record. Parore was far more talented with the gloves and bat but tended to be very unreliable.

Rotating seamers makes sense in a 3 test series on flat pitches. But after taking 6,6, and 7 wickets in the match, do you think any of the incumbents are volunteering to be 12th man?

4 wickets for Somerville and 3/35 off 18 for Ferguson. Options for 2nd test?
Would love to see Sommerville, but they're committed to Astle. Unless one of the seamers picks up an injury I can't see Ferguson playing either. Maybe in the third test if they win the next one.

I feel for Astle. Contributes handily to a significant win over England, gets injured, misses out on touring a place where spinners generally should do well (UAE), misses out on a weak Sri Lanka, and plays on a road where close to 1500 runs were scored over 3 innings. Plus, his captain doesn't really bowl him which doesn't help. He's got the toughest job in the Blackcaps side, really.
