***Official*** Bangladesh in Sri Lanka 2017

Great day. Mossadek is gun. Tamim is the man. Fantastic chase. As good as any top team could hope to achieve on the last day in Colombo against Herath & Co. Brilliant way to celebrate their 100th test match.
Sums it. taking down Herath in a 4th innings chase is special. On their home ground too. Something Aus couldn't do recently.

They'd have definitely lost that tour imo. Especially if they went with the same squad. Voges and Khawaja would've been destroyed.

Well yeah but it wasn't long after where Starc ran through SL and he could've easily done it to Bangladesh too. Plus Doola was playing and Miraz might've not even debuted.

Daemon was talking about Australia's cancelled tour of Bangladesh.
Oh, that makes more sense.

Yeah I could've seen us struggling over there. Think now we'd do a lot better, even if this ends 3-1 for India I think we've fared a lot better over there than most teams have.

That was awesome. Well done Bangladesh. Really nice to see them improving - eases the pain of how utterly useless the West Indies are these days.

Relief.

Last 7 tests we've been in these matches only to inexplicably fold in the final innings.

Plenty of teachable moments from this test. Hathu didn't look so pleased after Tamim's dismissal, I know he's going to have some words for the squad.

Great from Bangladesh. I confess that I thought it was going to be same old, same old once SL creeped to 190. Serious chase!

Yeah, when I first checked the scores this morning the were 30/2 or so and I thought that they'd already messed up. But then they had that big partnership and by the time the 3rd wicket went down I was thinking 'surely even Bangladesh get home from here'. And fair play to them, they lost some wickets afterwards and it wasn't all smooth sailing, but then you'd expect that from any team chasing 190 in Sri Lanka and the most important things is they got there. I should have more faith in them going forward :)

Bangladesh have done well. Also take into account they hardly play much away tests. This is their 5th on the trot as we speak, and though they lost all those previous 4 test matches, they could've quite easily drawn them had they showed better application and match awareness. T20 is their weakest format now. Bangladesh know how to play the main forms now. Bangladesh should have more away tours to the Caribbean, Zimbabwe, South Africa and England.

Comparing Bangladesh's record in their first 100 tests to everyone else.

England (1877-1909): Won 45, lost 38, drew 17.

Australia (1877-1912): Won 42, lost 40, drew 18.

South Africa (1889-1949): Won 15, lost 52, drew 33

West Indies (1928-1965): Won 35, lost 33, drew 31, tied 1

New Zealand (1930-1972): Won 7, lost 46, drew 47

India (1932-1967): Won 10, lost 40, drew 50

Pakistan (1952-1979): Won 19, lost 26, drew 55

Sri Lanka (1982-2000): Won 18, lost 40, drew 42

Zimbabwe (1994-2016): Won 11, lost 63, drew 26

Bangladesh (2000-2017): Won 9, lost 76, drew 15

Bangladesh have actually won a similar amount of their first 100 tests than a few other sides, including those that had decades to establish themselves rather than what Bangladesh have now which is only their second generation of test players. But they've lost far, far more and this is despite going through a long period of actually trying to draw Tests at home. Does their record being the worst indicate where they're staying? Probably not. But it does feel like, if Bangladesh are now an established side, they might have skipped a step.

Kudos Bangers. Beaten Sri Lanka and Windies. Beat England.

Really think they can give Pakistan a real go as well.

Re the stats

Bangladesh should have been drawing far more test matches. Its where we are lacking. We need to seriously improve on it. Wins will come afterwards.

I think scarcity of draws is a by-product of having Shakib 'six-sixes-on-the-last-over-before-stumps-my-way-only-way' Al Hasan being the mentor of the team.
