Not Terrible
Yeah bowling hasn't been brilliant but it's been pretty solid. Bangers are attacking.Intent
Weird when Tamim has the most responsible temperament in the top 4.

I missed the first hour, but was hoping I wouldn't read that we're having problems consistently landing the right areas again. Disappointing to read. We're bowling a few good deliveries here and there, but the consistency just isn't there at the moment. No good bowling two good balls an over but slipping into the pads/too wide every other ball.
Lol I naturally assumed it was Southee when I read this, but I see in reading through the commentary that was actually Boult.Dumb review.
We've been much better than in Wellington. We're getting swing and putting a lot of balls in the right areas. The problem is that there's still too many loose deliveries.I missed the first hour, but was hoping I wouldn't read that we're having problems consistently landing the right areas again. He's going to go down as being a slightly better Test version of Grant Elliott inne? No disrespect to Grunter though, or CdG. Just not Test standard, freakish debut bowling figures aside. We've been much better than in Wellington. We're getting swing and putting a lot of balls in the right areas. On a different note, I just can't see the point of de Grandhomme. His bowling is innocuous and his batting isn't test standard. Id prefer Neesham in tests and Munro in limited overs.
To be fair I think Southee was largely to blame! He came running in, making the T signal.Lol I naturally assumed it was Southee when I read this, but I see in reading through the commentary that was actually Boult.
New players often get a good performance in early when the opposition doesn't know anything about them. I'd forgotten Grant Elliott even played tests, tbh. He's going to go down as being a slightly better Test version of Grant Elliott inne? No disrespect to Grunter though, or CdG. I think it was more the conditions and how inexperienced the opposition were at playing bowlers like CdG with conditions in the bowler's favour much more than any sort of new player h4x (which I do agree exists). I think in similar circumstances CdG would pretty much always be a good pick, but the selectors have done the classic thing of picking a horse for a course and then sticking with him on less suited courses just because it worked.New players often get a good performance in early when the opposition doesn't know anything about them. Yeah pretty much. If he could maintain a decent line and length today he might even be able to take a few wickets.I think it was more the conditions and how inexperienced the opposition were at playing bowlers like CdG with conditions in the bowler's favour much more than any sort of new player h4x (which I do agree exists). And take the fielder from where? Cover? If you pull across a leg side fielder it can encourage bowlers to go too wide of off stump. The commentators always have a huge whinge about it but it's not a bad idea at all to put out a deep point in this situation. Shakib in particular is throwing his hands at any width and rattling along at a run a ball because of it - dry up that boundary and play on his patience for a while. We can still keep the slips in for the edge but stop the boundary every over; there's no pressure being built up.
Bugger.I'm hoping for a more impressive effort from our new ball pairing today.
