*Official* Bangladesh in New Zealand 2016/2017

Sure, let's get all uppity about me pointing out the facts of the game, because they don't suit the narrative of you wanting to say this was a great test that was hard fought.

Bangladesh choked, something drastic, and we capitalised. It was a complete gift and shouldn't be seen as anything less by the selectors who should be asking some tough questions in particular of the bowlers.
Of the bowlers? The same ones that dismissed the opposition gor 160 in that road to set up one of the greatest come back test wins of all time?
Ranks as one of our most memorable test wins.

Malinga would destroy our domestic competition, if you look back at the history of our cricket team, we've never dealt with slingers well for whatever reason and I have a sneaking suspicion that Kamrul will end up with a bagful at some point against us due to that.

Fizz on the other hand looks like a novelty bowler, like a slightly better version of Alex Tait who used to dominate our first class scene in the nineties and probably should've got a bit more of a chance at the international level (in ODI). His style will suit the crumbly dusty pitches in Asia but he's not the type of bowler that will benefit from green seamers, mostly because he's just not bowling quick enough.

Bangladesh have played far closer to their potential through the entire series, NZ has played like complete crap and the scoreline still doesn't include a victory for Bangladesh, even in the tour match. If NZ actually turn up for a change and play anywhere near their potential, it won't even be close.

As I said at the very start of the series.

You're giving them too much credit.

We played absolutely poorly, outside Latham, no one in the Top 5 did anything useful and our bowling was absolutely woeful, and we still spanked them by 77 runs. Their batting was as good as it's going to be in this series and they didn't bowl that awfully, it's just a sub continent team touring in a nation they have no real chance of victory within.

Regarding Mustafizur, even if he did play I'm not sure he would've made a *huge* difference to the attack, given that there was little to absolutely no seam movement off the pitch. Although, if he did play, would've he played ahead of one of the debutants or the widely chastised Kamrul? Kamrul ended up being their best seamer, really.
He would have played ahead of Roy I guess.

He'd have made a difference, he swings and reverse swings it and gets it up to 140+ and that slower ball is lethal and takes the pitch out of consideration. But the difference is probably from 539 to 500 realistically. Fizzy is great but not a Murali/Hadlee freak.

He obviously wouldn't have made a massive difference , but it's just annoying when the best bowler isn't even picked. Especially a young guy still learning test cricket. You don't "rest" talented 20-year olds. It's absolutely ludicrous.

Yeah Kamrul was probably close to the best pace bowler from either team which was extremely surprising, but Bangladesh should still not have played both him and Roy. The only reason not to play Fizz would be him not being fit enough/in form for a full test match.

He obviously wasn't fit enough to last a test, there's no other reason. The LO games here and tere were probably for him to slowly get back to match fitness again.

Even if he picked up a niggle in the LO games, I'd argue that's better than him coming fresh into a test and doing the same but having to bowl through it. I don't think it's a bad decision, or at least I think we need more facts before we can call it one.

His pace was definitely down in the limited overs games, so fitness was clearly an issue. I am disappointed he wasn't available, but he is a young fast bowler returning from injury - so I am also glad that the selectors decided to put his long-term prospects ahead of their short-term needs.

keen for Soumya Sarkar to prove some naysayers wrong. like the bloke
He does not know how to bat in longer version. Going to be a wild ride but tbf on management they are left with no choice with Mominul's injury.

Looking forward to Nazmul.

I'm a bit blown away by the amount of injuries and lack of mental toughness from Bangladesh on this tour. Mominul's scan, nothing. Kayes, apparently he has a strain - the same thing that my grandad boxes on through in his morning run. Funny how he was able to duck swiftly under his first ball back from retiring hurt, and play a pull shot before remembering he should be putting on his hand re the hip. I don't include Musfiqur in this, but all tour there's been guys go down for 5/10 mins then get up with nay a scratch. It reminds me of U11 cricket, when Mum runs on with the magic spray.

The lack of any mental application and toughness has been pretty embarrassing on this tour. Things like these pseudo injuries, the pathetic fielding display and body language on day 5 of the Test, and often made by senior players. This team isn't going anywhere soon, unless they find guys who have balls about them. Course they can exhibit it in home conditions, but have shown no level to fight and gain results down here.

Lack of mental toughness yes but you are talking out of your *** knowing very little about their injuries. Good thing you are not the physio of any international team otherwise your team no matter what would have been running first thing on every daylight for their lives

Cricinfo seems to think Kamrul is out too and replaced by Rubel Hossain (in their XI, makes no mention in the article).

Thought they were alright with the new ball in Wellington on the first day, but were hampered by the crazy wind. It was only on the second day when they really started to bowl poorly.
