*Official* Bangladesh in New Zealand 2016/2017

We may as well split it.

Give Guptill the T20 captaincy, Taylor the ODI captaincy and Watling/Taylor the Test captaincy.

I would like to give Latham a chance as captain in a few years time.
I wouldn't mind Guppy captaining in both short forms.

As I said upthread, Taylor for tests. His earlier stint had a markedly positive effect on his batting and he won more tests than (for example) Martin Crowe or John Wright. Also won only two fewer than Vettori even though the latter had 18 more tests in charge.

Btw, in terms of accountability of the sort of pitches that are rolled out, I don't expect anything to change moving forward. If NZC haven't got it yet, they'll never get it.

Munro at 5
Watling 6
Santner 7
Kuggleijn 8 (trial permitting)
I'm liking the way Kuggs is bowling this season, seems to have a bit of aggro about him which we need more of to put the pressure on mellowpuffs like Southee.

Do we know when this trial is set?

I don't want to risk our best ODI batsmen's form, you can give him the ODI captaincy if it doesn't burden him in T20's.

Good to hear, had a bad feeling it was going to drag on 6 months into the year or something.
The first trial was a hung jury, the evidence itself is very he said, she said, with a lot of factors meaning it's not just a shut the book case; although the judge had implied that the jury should find him not guilty on the evidence presented.

What I find interesting is his behavior; he didn't seek name suppression (look at the many Rugby cases of assault and ***ual assault where that's the first thing applied for), fronted the media, hasn't hidden his face when going to the courts, continued to play cricket and asked not to be considered for selection solely because he didn't want a media circus impacting the NZ Cricket scene.

Not the actions of someone who thinks he's guilty.

Ian Smith realizing Kane isn't going to declare

When are our so called experts going to call out Kane for his many questionable decisions?

NZ haven't declared gee wiz, what the hell is the end game here? A draw to Bangladesh at home?
Why would the declare a hundred runs behind?

They should look to smash a few now though, tbh. They're not going to lose here because I doubt Bangladesh, even if they bat well, will set a sporting target.

They should have smashed it earlier, the last session was a really bad one for us and only served to swing momentum Bangladeh's way because of our mindless batting.

Momentum; they could just as easily lose the two tail enders for 10 runs and give Bangladesh a mental boost before their innings.

But in amongst all that, good innings by Santner

We'll of course never know for certain, but I tend to agree with that summation.

Also he reportedly volunteered to give up the opportunity to be picked for any NZ rep teams in the meantime.
