Whats that like 4 losses in a row in the final for victoria?

Mark Cleary is set to make a welcome return to the bowling line-up. Daniel Christian will return from Australian duties (flying direct to Brisbane) and Graham Manou will also resume Shield duties.

The Redbacks will need to secure an outright win against the Bulls to keep their finals hopes alive.

The team will be on the road for the remaining fortnight of the domestic season and this will therefore be the local media’s last opportunity to secure footage and interviews.

Confident we can win this match. Good to see where playing at the GABBA which is usually a green top and a result wicket. Great to see Cleary back, he will be good for George having a decent opening bowler from the other end.

Putland to be 12th man.
I hope you don't win :)

Ridgway is a bit of a mischevious one. Every year Casey-South Melbourne (the team he coaches) are recruiting from far and wide, seem to get connected to every player going around.

Is there any chance of Sam Miller getting picked up by a Victorian side with a view to a state contract? After a stack of 70's and 80's finally got his first ton for us on saturday in grade with a decent 139*, also smashed them in the final of that Victorian T20 comp for his club side down there.

There were quite a few suitors for him this year, played some big shots at him. Obviously the offer of Futures League cricket was the highest priority. Not sure what will go on, but again, there'd be a number of teams keen to acquire his services.

Doesn't strike me as captaincy material. Seems such a laid back guy Clark.

Also noticed in local community newspaper last week a wonderful photo of our resident moderator almost having his head knocked off by a bumper. Well done on scoring a 50 though.

The shield game at the Gabba tomorrow is almost certain to be a washout. Serious rain has set in up here and it doesn't look like abating before the weekend.

Presumably somebody starts the "Offical Australian Domestic Off-Season Thread" when the off-season starts.

We could just rename it once the season's over to something more appropriate. Post a reminder when the time rolls around, until then I guess just keep it all in here just to avoid cluttering the main page.

That sucks, hopefully it does subside.
Well given that half of Brisbane is set to flood, unless Kevin Mitchell Jr is a magician with some powerful dark magic up his sleeve there will not be play tomorrow. I would not be surprised if the outfield is too wet to play on, even if it stopped raining.

Nah. These grounds have great drainage. I'd say they will get play underway on time today. It's not raining at the moment, and the sun is out so if it doesn't get underway on time it won't be long after 10 before it does.

Have sat in the stands while a torrential storm passed over the ground, literally dropped a crap load of rain on the ground, as the puddles were forming they just as quickly disappeared. The storm lasted for about 10 minutes and then 1/2 an hour later they were resuming play.

I know the drainage is excellent at the Gabba these days, but it's been raining for a loooong time now. Undoubtedly it will start back up again some time today.

Play at the Gabba, QLD are batting.

George and Putland opening the bowling, Haberfield is 12th man..stupid IMO.

Cleary and George should be opening the bowling, with Haberfield at first change. But if Putland is going to play he has to open the bowling.
