Trevor Barsby has stepped down as the Queensland coach.

BARSBY STANDS DOWN AS COACH

Wednesday 8 December 2010

The Chairman of Queensland Cricket Jim Holding has today announced that Trevor Barsby has stood down as coach of the XXXX GOLD Queensland Bulls for the remainder of the season.

Barsby met this morning with Holding and Queensland Cricket Chief Executive Officer Graham Dixon following last night’s monthly meeting of the Board of Directors.

Holding said the decision was effective immediately.

“Trevor was clear in our talks this morning that an unworkable situation existed between he and the support staff and playing group,’’ he said.

“He has elected to take leave and will speak with the Board at a later date to discuss his future.”

Holding said that injured captain James Hopes and the senior playing group would work with the support staff to prepare the Bulls for today’s Ryobi Cup game against the Warriors at the Gabba and for the Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield match against WA starting on Friday.

“We will look at the coaching options for the Bulls for the rest of the summer as a matter of urgency,’’ Holding said.

“I wish to place on record mine and the Board’s appreciation of the professional manner in which Trevor has dealt with this situation.”

Barsby was appointed in the 2008-09 season for the first time after coaching the QAS for several seasons.

The Bulls won the one-day competition in his first season at the helm.

I had heard rumblings of some unrest in the QLD camp, but didnt think Trevor would step down. Trevor did an interview during a Ryobi match a few weeks ago and was posed some seemingly harmless questions about some players fitness etc which he gave some very odd answers too, i guess that makes sense now. Not a happy camper.

Hauritz has a ton, that is funny as. Amazing he should be shoo in for the next test, bit sad that he looked so bad vs India but is still the best by miles.

Wow, Hauritz really seems to be determined to make an impact in every given way after his axing....
Coming to QLD, guess they are getting rid of all the old baggage which ain't necessarily a bad thing. They just need to keep blooding in some good aggressive young cricketers who can uplift the sides fortunes.

This is a side of Haury I didn't know existed. Determined and not exactly acting the way he looks (like a repressed child)

Amazin'

Surely Hauritz has to play the next Ashes test.

The advantage of this is that O'Keefe would be able to play for NSW.
