I hope Jaques can retain this form and secure a spot to Sri Lanka.

Also it is good to see the VICs hold on, but disappointing to see Casson wicketless in the second innings.

Copeland has to be pushing very hard for a debut in Sri Lanka at the moment. The last time a bowler was pushing a case as hard as he is was a 31 year old Noffke.

Could see something moronic like that being used as an excuse not to pick him.
It wouldn't surprise me to see the selectors ask for him to be tested before selection itbt.

There have been whispers about it around the scene for a while now.

Reckon he'd pass the testing pretty comprehensively fwiw. I think the wrist position for his stock inswinger creates a bit of an illusion.

A lot of fuss is being made over the inability of the Australian batsman to play spin, but when you look at the Shield games taking place right now the root cause of the problem becomes pretty obvious.

The spinners that are playing right now are hardly playing any real part in the games and they are there just for the sake of it and that has been the case for a while now.

A guy like Lyon with his loopy trajectory might do really well on spinning tracks but on Aussie pitches its pretty hard to see him making much impact, same can be said about Holland or Krejza' style of bowling.

AFAIC the spin cupboard in Australia is hardly bare like most people make it sound, but its important the standard of shield and club pitches improve so that the current lot of spinners get a chance to hone their skills and more importantly young kids don't start seeing bowling spin as waste of time.

EDIT: Btw... where is Simon Katich..? Wasn't he talking up his chances of playing in the Sydney test so one would have thought he would/should have recovered from his injury by now.

SA technically still in this game but with QLD 130 in front, Burns still smashing them and Hopes/Hartley still in the sheds, not looking good. Wouldn't want to be chasing more than 250 with that batting line-up, tbh.

EDIT: Ooo, looks like Burns caught a roughie. QLD 4/81 and that piece of luck might keep them in it. All QLD's Hopes rest on......?
