Rashid has gotten better each game this tournament IMO.

I got on the Vics when they were 3/98 from 16 overs. They were paying $3.50 - Pretty pleased with 46 runs from the last 4 overs.

Hard to find an exact reason for the decline in numbers this season.

The lack of big name imports is a major reason. Rashid might be taking wickets for South Australia, but the casual fan isn't going to tune into Foxtel or attend a game at the Adelaide Oval to see him. Same goes for the majority of imports other than Pollard and Gayle.

The quality of games hasn't been very high either. I can hardly recall five close finishes this season. The start of the Big Bash last year had some fantastic games that captured the publics attention. Too many games are almost won before the second team has even taken a bat this year.

Lack of crowd numbers also largely impacted by the huge reduction in MCG crowd figures. Casual fans don't want to watch the home team lose, and Victoria have been woeful this year.

NSW being charitable and helping Qld out when the state is in crisis.

Plainly better blokes than Tony Abbott, but now aint the time boys.

why did the bulls have to play NSW twice in the big bash? Same with the other states - why 6 games per team when there are only 6 teams and therefore 5 games for a complete round?

Can be seen to be unfair tbh - especially when they insist on home and away for Shield and One Dayers.

T20 - Declining Ratings, Declining Crowds

This format gets old, very quickly - particularly if there's saturation of it as CA plans.

It's the most monotonous form of the game IMO.
It really is fast food cricket. KFC are a suitable sponsor. I don't mind it, just like I don't mind junk food every now and again, but it is pretty forgettable stuff.

The article claims the NRL average crowds are 12,000. They have not been that low since 1998. Since then crowds at the rugby league have increased steadily, and were at 16,000 last year, 17,000 including finals. Yes, nowhere near the AFL but still improving and stable.

The A-league is a relatively young competition too and crowds have jumped around a fair bit from year to year. You would expect the same thing for the big bash until it develops its stable support base.

One huge factor as I see it with cricket is that we have different touring teams each summer. Obviously, England touring is more appealling than maybe Pakistan or the West Indies in their current form. If people get their fill of cricket at the international level, they will have less need for the big bash.

And in the end if people are going to see Big Bash but not the internationals, that's a bit of a shame

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but how good is Usman Khawaja? And is he the type of player who could become a regular part of the ODI team?I'm sure he is regarded by many as Ponting's replacement in the test team, but what about the ODI format?

Way too early. Basically only done one thing of note in ODDs, and that was on a postage stamp ground.

tbf he probably would have made it in earlier this season had we not been in a position where we needed to play 6 bowlers.....

btw forrest should probably leave (as well as a stack of bowlers) but def. not to victoria.
