I'm with you, neither of them has bowled well enough this year or last to warrant being in the SA first XI. Bailey today was woeful; half-trackers almost every over. Just not a good day at the office for him.....

I noticed Brad Hogg picked up 3 wickets against Victoria and was quite economical whereas MacGill went at more than 5 runs per over. Food for thought for the Australian selectors I'm sure.

EDIT: Heal with 3 against Sri Lanka. Interesting.

As Wrighty said the way both the Cullen's are being overrated is no longer funny because Australia seriously needs to find a long term replacement for Warne, MacGill is looking out of sorts and Hauritz is not being selected in Pura cup games, Casson and Doran are dire to say the least.
So that leaves us with basically two options Hogg and Heal, Heal is quality but his lack of experience is a hurdle in his way for selection in the Aussie test team and Hogg is on the wrong side of 30's.
Bowling figures of Lee and Johnson are worrying me a bit and on the other hand Redbacks continue with their torrid form this season but Tait again bowled well, but what do you guys think is going wrong with South Australia they seem to be in a mess for sometime now which is sad to see.

I hope Haydos carries this sort of form through the summer, but for his knock today all i have got to say is well played mate and you deserve a drink
Anyways on a more serious note its good to see Watto make a good comeback but he shouldn't rush back into international cricket and should take his own time before making an international comeback.

So funny, can't wait for Heal to go from under-rated to over-rated in 1...2....3.....

Haurtiz is dire is FC, his a solid OD bowler thats about it. Both Doran and Casson are a fair bit better really.

Can't deny his outstanding performance today though Chaminda. Just hope this is the start of something great for him, I know he has the goods.

Really? Doran perhaps, but Casson? Never rated him really, keen-as cricketer though. Often see him asking fifty questions at the nets.

Not denying his performance or his really good performances in FC cricket to date. The thing about him, that a lot of the other spinner don't seem to have is being patient. Casson, Cullen, Bailey and Doran all seem to try and take a wicket each ball. Whereas Heal has the ability to work batsmen over, even with less resources then the other four.

But at the end of day with the Australian media/supporters all it takes is a couple good performances and these spinners get hyped up. Just look at Cullen and Haurtiz one better then average season and they are talked up as Test class bowlers.

With regard to Casson v Haurtiz. Casson been used very poor at NSW by both Haddin and Katich. He hardly had a bowl last season and MacGill was way over bowled. Whereas at WA when he was bowling well Hussey/North/Langer were throwing him the bal during though times. His very much a confidence bowler and when MacGill starts playing Test and his required to bowl more overs. I think we will see Casson start to come into his own. When he comes just to pure bowling his got a lot more options then Haurtiz at FC level.

The things that has made Haurtiz successful at OD level, keeping it tight and waiting for batsmen to make mistakes don't work in FC cricket. You need to have more wicket taking deliveries and he doesn't have them really.

His never really been that great at FC level. Its just when Bichel and Kaspra were at their best, Maher could pick and choice when to bowl him. When his required to come on and take quick wickets his struggled. His bowled his best at FC level as stock bowler for Bichel and Kaspra.

Anyone else noticed that Shane Lee playing grade cricket again. Not sure if his bowling anymore. Probably just playing as a batsmen. Would be great if he bowling, so we have gun all rounder (at FC level) to replace Lambert.

Didn't know he still existed tbh.

Bit harsh on Hauritz Chamina. Admittedly Hauritz crashed after his test debut and really struggled for Qld. But since he's moved to N.S.W. he has developed flight and spin and has become a more complete bowler. He's definitely better than Cullen and Casson, that's for sure.

He also had a flight though. Yeah his improved his turn, but thats got more to do with grade pitches in Sydney offering more turn. So he has a bit more to work with and therefore develop that aspect of his game.

But really he hasn't shown anything extra in the limited FC chances he had. His bowling in the Pura Cup Final, was one of the worst pieces of spin bowling I have ever seen in FC cricket. I'll be very surprised if he does get a long a run in the Pura Cup (which he might if MacGill plays all 6 Tests) that he doesn't crash and burn. Just don't think he has enough in kit to be effective at Pura Cup level.

Even though the likes of Casson, Cullen or whoever might be average now. They still got a bit more to offer then Haurtiz at FC level. Still a gun OD bowler, but they are two completely different forms. Simpson is 10 times better OD bowler then Doran. But no where near as effective as him in FC.

Good summation.

AWTA, i think Doran falls into the same Category as Casson when it comes to captains not knowing how to use him. I fail to see why he even makes the QLD team at times because Maher hardly seems to notice that he's on the team.

Yeah he's only bowled 3 out of the 100 overs bowled so far. Maher is terrible at handling his spinners.
