Im so sick of these WA imports playing like crap. We need to start producing quicks.

Where is Sean Ervine?

if he is available i can't BELIEVE he's not playing... especialy when you look at how well he played for hampshire

I think his injuried, but if he isn't he still isn't really good enough to make the side as a batsmen, considering Murray Goodwin can't ATM. Also his bowling wouldn't really help WA, but i guess he couldn't do worse.

Honestly, how cant Goodwin make the team? I assumed his absence meant he was injured.

As for Ervine though, he could easily replace one of the bowlers, or at least Worthington as supersub, if he was fit.

Why not..??

There are some awful bowlers in the WA side and his figures with bat and ball for hampshire where very good...

I would have him in the OD side in a FLASH and open with him with the batting (made two 100's opening for hampsire)

he is a way better bowler and player in general than say Waits or Worthington...

i cant believe how crap wa are doing considering that they are meant to have a high class bowling attack. All this hype about dorey being a future test bowler is the biggest load of tripe i have heard in a while. WA for ****s sake just get back to the drawing board and get rid of some of these so called untouchables. Williams bowled crap also and his place in the team should be under some serious scrutiny

Goodwin is playing though (in Pura anyway). Ervine would make it into the one-day side ahead of Wates, one would think (and hope) especially after the start Wates has had.

Yep, agreed. Theyre not even doing the basics anymore, bunch of plodders atm.

Didnt he make another ton soon after or just before that double?

his performance in general were better with the bat then the ball for hamspire, but so was Watson and now his in the Australian team as an all rounder. So Ervine would probably make the OD side infront of one of those bowlers/all rounders. But his injuried and likely to be out for a while, so we might have to wait a while to find out. Not sure about the Pura Cup side, but if he did play in the Top 6, then they could play a spinner and still have 4 quicks. Which would give WA, a lot more balanced attack, then what they have now.

I was commenting more on Goodwin's absense in the ING side, i didn't know he was back in the Pura Cup side, as i haven't seen a scorecard yet (stupid cricket.com.au :@)

Just sure the NSW/WA scorecard on cricinfo (not surprising they have it before cricket.com.au). Nice see O'Brien scoring some runs, pretty good day for the Blues, 3/312, it would be good if one of those two not out batsmen can go and score a big hundred. A interesting selection of Grant Lambert at number 6, hmm we got a lot of good young batsmen/all rounders comming through, surely they would be a better option then Lambert.

Goodwin has played both Pura Cup games this season, so really he isnt "back", however his non-selection in 1D has bewildered and disgusted - Surely he'd get a gig on the back of: 1. Tried and proven batsman, 2. His experience in a relatively unexperienced team. Theres 2 possible opening combos (Rogers/North, Rogers/Ronchi) why bring in Meuleman, who's primarilly an opener, and has had a lean grade season thus far? While we're on the story of selections, how long does it take for them to figure out that Michael Clark isn't a shadow of what he was prior to injury? Inness anyone?

Eclipse - Ervine was a walkup start to replace Banger Harvey in 1D at least this season, shame his season is over before it started, and his WA future is gone - likely he'll go to England and play full time for Hampshire (one would assume) now - unless another state picks him up. As has been mentioned he's a far better option than Pete Worthington, but hey what can ya do.

Lambert is a good player, has been unlucky not to play more over the last few years. perhaps not taken full advantage of when he has been picked.
