Yes and we defeated India in 2004 but I don't really know what that has to do with how a team might perform in 2022-23.

There's all of three players left from the SA side which won here in 2017, and one of those is Bavuma ffs. This is the weakest SA batting outfit I've seen since readmission. Easily. If you think they were favourites going into that test then you've got rocks in your dial. The pitch being a lottery made it closer for SA than it would be had it been more batsman-friendly.
Two Tests are left...let's see who wins but don't call this SA team weak. Earlier in the year we defeated a strong Indian team which had won handsomely in Australia.

...and why would they prepare a pitch for getting ready for next year Ashes? They have a tough series coming up against India. Why not play on slow turners?

The truth is these Aussie bowlers are not that skillful like SA bowlers and they need assistance from the pitch to humiliate us. If we get proper hard pitches in the next two Tests, SA will definitely win.
The pitch wasn't prepared to get ready for anything or give anyone an advantage. Most aren't.

going to blow your mind but brisbane is not in india and the effect the climate has on pitches is totally different
What I mean was that despite the rain the groundsman had enough time to shave some grass. This was a total green top mamba. Even our SA pitches don't have this much grass.

I've never rated Starc as high as some. I think he is a good bowler but can be wayward still. I rate Cummins ahead of Starc.

Lyon - again good bowler but not as high as others have him. He just bowls roughly the same. In a stronger era batsman would be using their feet and hammering him.

I was referring to post by @The_CricketUmpire who mentioned it was for prepared for the coming Ashes.
Btw, I hope u r going well @TheJediBrah Your posts are always quite interesting.

I dont think the Gabba deck was prepared for the Ashes series. I dont think the curators thought to themselves "let's prepare a deck so that the Aussie batters can get experience for the Ashes". What I was getting at was that the Aussie batters batting on the green Gabba deck would hold them in good stead experience wise for when they play in England

One thing to note about the wicket, and even if Australia were reduced to just Lyon, they would have caused trouble. Lyon was a menace and getting lots of purchase.

First I've seen of Zondo batting...how does someone with that technique get picked for an international first XI? Do highlights do him injustice or is that really how he bats?
Zondo is useful if you are touring India and you need assurances that you will get into triple figures.

A number of decks in Australia have been pretty lively the past 2-3 years tbf. It's made for some compelling, though not always good cricket. This one was pretty average though. It defied predictions it would get easier to bat on as it hardened up. It actually got a bit worse, contrary to what usually happens up there.

The good news is the Gabba is pretty much being torn down to build the Olympic stadium, thank ****. It's a horrible, soulless edifice in a horrible, soulless town.

I presume I wasn't the only one who noticed the best the camera crews could do in their cutaway shots were pics o blocks of flats. Just the worst joint.
I'm pretty sure the reason they don't have day/night test matches in Brisbane is it would be hard to hear the commentary/cricket over the noise generated by the huge number of child-like bogans that come out after 8pm to do donuts and rev their #big engines
