*Official* Australia vs Pakistan in England

No its not but continue not thinking about it any deeper than you absolutely have to and just accept it because someone told you it is.
OK if it isn't a racial slur, go and use it to a Pakistani in England and report back to me on what you find.

sigh. 8-)

Ethnic slurs starting with "P" from wiki.

**** / Pakki

(Primarily United Kingdom and sometimes Canada) a Pakistani or South Asian (or sometimes a Middle Eastern person). Within the UK, the term originated in Northern England, where a large number of South Asians arrived in the 1950s and 1960s. Used as a derogatory term directed towards South Asians (and sometimes Middle Eastern people), it is usually considered offensive when used by a non-Asian in the UK

It's what happens when dealing with people who won't make a small amount of effort to avoid offending a large contingent of the forum.
This.

Word here is Steve Smith to start. Presumably he or Haddin to bat 8.

Am wondering, with Johnson at nine, if that's as deep a batting line up as we've had since way back to Davo and Benaud in the side.

The surest indication that a series isn't likely to be close is when people expend more energy talking about an issue tangentially related to it than to the cricket.

Haddin's not playing; Paine's in the team.

Ah, of course. Well then, presumably Smith seven, Paine eight. Still not a bad line up, assuming nerves don't get the better of them.

Got to be a record for hair products in an Aussie team too. Watto, Clarke, Paine, Smith and Dougeh.

Hope there's enough blow dryers.

I've grown up in an area of Glasgow with a sizeable Pakistani-descended population, I'm well aware of how offensive such a term is.

Particularly as it's used indiscriminantly by racist morons against pretty much anyone with brown skin.

Haha, I don't think it's offensive because people told me so, I think it's offensive because many of my friends who are from Pakistani backgrounds tell me so. Who am I to argue?

Looking forward to this,Pakistan did really well in the hit and giggle but their batting looks weak in the longer form of the game.Australia haven't done very well in England in recent tours but i still expect them to be too strong for Pakistan though the useful Pakistan attack could bloody a few noses before the Aussies come through.

While the Pakistani bowling has the firepower to make some entertaining viewing I do not think their batsmen stand any chance. Tough to look past Australia winning it 2-0.

I have a feeling Pakistan is going to find another Umar Akmal type prospect in this series. I am also going to say that Pakistan has the firepower to win against this Australian side and may go on to do an upset in the first test.

However, the possible squad that cricinfo put down is terrible. Would open with Hameed and Butt and put Umar Akmal 1 down position. 2 down Malik and then 1 new guy before the Afridis or the Karmans come in. Wouldn't rule out Razzaq's inclusion as well....

Asif has to lead Amir and Gul with the ball...anything that Kaneria or Afridi get is a bonus.

My ideal team

Salman Butt
Yassir Hameed
Umar Akmal
Fawad Alam
Umar Amin
Kamran Akmal
Shahid Afridi
Mohammad Aamer
Mohammad Asif
Umar Gul
Danish Kaneria

Unfortunately Mallik will play instead of Alam..

I dont understand why Pakistan continues to ignore Asad Shafiq...Considering how Kamran Akmal cant catch...Asad should have been picked straightaway..he is a keeper..and has a first class batting average of 43.
