Southee now averaging 29.98

Unless he does a Swann and retires before the second innings, his 100th test match present will be a career average over 30.
Southee and Henry's averages both converging on 30 - Henry merely needs to take 7/15 next innings to get to 100 wickets at 30.00.

None of them average under 27, Southee over 30, whereas your all time great fast bowlers generally average under 24, and the various fourth bowlers or whoever was third before Wagner established weren't that good until Jamieson came along. Brilliance is a high bar.

The pitch isn't doing much now with the ball getting older.

A good chance for us to grind the Aussie bowlers down and wear them out which we haven't done so far in this series.

They are a good bowling attack but like any bowling attack they can get ragged and bowl some loose stuff if you keep them bowling long enough.

Latham's outside edge leading a charmed life currently. And as I write that, Hazlewood goes past Williamson too. Australia will feel they deserve a lot more than one wicket so far...

The runs are starting to flow again with a few more loose balls from the Aussie bowlers, we can't get too carried away though and throw away a wicket.

It's still only Day 2 so need to take any risks to lift the run rate.

We are back in this game but with how flat this pitch is looking we probably need at least another 300 runs to be in with a good chance of winning it.
