Full strength Canterbury and Wellington attacks better than the one we'll field tomorrow?

Heavily dependent on how good Nathan Smith really is but this is more of a dig at Southee and Kuggeleijn.

Just hoping Sears is test bowling reading not sure the last time hes bowled a in a fc match. Hopefully he can maintain his pace although might be challenging with an action like his. He needs pace to stay threatening if that goes not sure what else he has in his skillset but good luck to him.
Bumrah before his test debut hadnt bowled in close to a year too and did well in his debut series

i dont think it has a huge impact if you havent played a lot of recent fc cricket contrary to what this forum seems to believe

I hope we at least pick Santner for this test
Wouldn't be surprised if they pick him because of what happened in the last two tests.

But then the spinners on both sides give up a collective 500 runs with the only wicket going to Lyon - a hugely controversial hit the ball twice decision - and then NZ never picks a specialist spinner at home for the rest of our lifetimes.

Completely passed me by, but despite the supposed poverty of our spin bowling stocks Blundell now has the most stumpings of any NZ test wicketkeeper.
Not surprised the record's been broken but surprised he's done it so quickly. He's done it only 31 matches and with less than half the number of catches as McCullum. Otherwise NZ don't play many matches in general, especially in the more spin-dominated pre-1960 era, and their spin history is very weak.

Yeah, this would be a Stead thing to do. Oh well everyone says it should have been Santner, so I'll give them what they want.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Even on an ineffective pitch Santner is more valuable than sp

It's back him to score more and to not leak runs

The big question on Santner is whether the Hagley pitch will surprise on the spinny side. You'd usually say no, but every other pitch this summer has turned more than a standard NZ pitch, so maybe it will. The weather contributes to this, though I wonder if groundskeepers are doing something different too.
