**Official** Australia in West Indies

New batsman Findlay is 24 years old, he's been in the Jamaica side for four years - and he's played a total of five List A matches. That's ridiculous isn't it?
In the rest of the cricket world? yes. In the West Indies? No. If the system stays as is, you'll find guys with less than 40 FC matches having played a full career.

Well done Australia, and a special mention to Watson who bowled a bluechip last over.

All in all, a very good game of cricket.

wowwww
actually when i woke up i had a feeling we'd lose/it be close... scores like 280 aren't that good nowadays on good tracks..and our bowling hasnt been tested
Good to have a game like this before CT :) (if we go)

Watto the death bowler who would've thought  He's had a terrific series and Hopes would be a bit nervous of his position

Wow cannot believe we won that. Was SO surprised.

Our batting for the most part was pretty poor on such a flat track. I think M.Hussey is a bit off in one-dayers atm, he doesn't take many singles early on and leaves too much and then forces himself to get moving by looking to play the big shots. If he's going to bat up the order like that there isn't the need to hole out like that.

Starting to have some serious concerns about Marsh as well. Looks a bit clueless against anything that seams, but I'd give him more time regardless. Was disappointed Clarke got out early as well, was playing some lovely shots. One of the best one-day batsmen to watch, dead set.

Honestly, when I saw Symonds made more than 10 I was baffled. He looked that out of nick in the first 10 minutes, full credit to the great man though. Very nice to see Dave Hussey start his career off well. With Ponting out for the series hopefully he'll be able to push his CT case even further, though you'd imagine he'd be in the squad regardless.

The West Indies really shouldn't have lost that though, they were on top for most of the game and after starting their batting off so well, it was kind of a woeful implosion, although we've come to expect that from them over the years.

Oh, and... WATTO!

Would like to see Hopes given a go at the top of the order, perhaps at the expense of Marsh. Tbh, I thought it was a bit rough he wasn't given the role at the start of the series.

Hopes probably won't be in the side for the Bangladesh series...Now I'd say he was unlucky, but he hasn't really done anything this series to warrant continued selection. Granted, he hasn't really done anything to warrant being dropped immediately either, but this is the Australian cricket team here. To continue your selection you need to do more than just OK when you haven't yet nailed down a permanent place in the side.

Was robbed of the openers spot imo. Was being groomed for it last season in the absence of Hayden. Should have at least started the series there.

He has only opened twice tbh, don't think he was ever being groomed for that position.

He averages 22.95 with the bat and 36.43 with the ball. Isn't everyone always saying that an all rounder should be able to make it into the team on one ability alone?
I don't mind Hopes as a player but have always wondered why he makes it on the ODI team.

Not Terrible
Hopes always looked pretty average to me, by no means a poor player just lacking the talent of his teammates. Good 12th man type player though, can fill in an injured players spot.

The thing is, Hopes is an extremely good utility player - the mr fix it in the team..he was a good batsman to have at #7 (he frequently hit quickfire 20s 30s) and then he'll bowl you 10 accurate overs, which is absolutely crucial when an opposition team is seeing off the better overs and targetting the 5th bowler which they couldnt with Hopes

but now with Watson who we should admit is the more talented cricketer (or we are lead to assume) but less reliable because he always breaks down/is more inconsistent ... than Hopes... is at the peak of his game, Hopes is not needed....

He is not good enough to be a clear cut bowler or batsman, and at the moment he is playing as the 4th bowler
Having batting to #8 is pointless too if your #7 is absolute class (which Haddin surely is) and Lee is a top batsman and can match it with any quick on his day.... Johnson can also be groomed to be a future handy tailender/slightly bowling allrounder too...

James Hopes' bowling value is vastly overrated. On flat pitches Gayle has shown what most quality batsmen will do to him. He's unlikely to take many wickets, so if he can't keep it under 4, there's not much point in picking him. He's unlikely to score runs with any consistency either.
