I was actually making a note about how home conditions are really an advantage if the opposition finds them extremely alien if they're not then the team will adjust quite easily.

You can say that about many ODI series though. The tri series that just happened occured after a big test series (in terms of reputation and hype). This series going on now between Aus and WI happened after a massive summer for Australia. It's the nature of ODI cricket.

They have equal amounts of wins in

Sri Lanka

There is no country that have won more matches than Australia on thier own home soil when Playing Australia in the last two years.

Yes but there's a bit more meaning to a tri-series or one that is before the Test series against the same nation. Nobody gives a toss about a 7 match series after the Ashes have been decided.

True, but an Ashes tour is a different beast to other Test series. Australia were over here in 2010 for an ODI series and will be here this summer; a 7-match ODI series in the aftermath of a 10 week Ashes tour is ludicrous.
