WTF!! Is this the result of us being in T20 mode still. After being in such a good position too. Awful stuff from the batsmen.

As our blokes have a weakness to spin aimed at the stumps, it seems the Lankan batsmen have a weakness to the left arm ball slanting across them. There have been several edges and umpteen play and misses.

Edit: Johnson with a modicum of movement away from the right hander? Seems more than just angle.

Ball that got Mendis definitely came into the LH in the air so you might be right there.

Won't read too much into Johnson's performance as he is basically a rhythm bowler, he can bowl like this and then turn up for the next game and look totally clueless.

Johnson strikes me as a bit of a confidence bowler as well. Just take a look at him bowling against South Africa two years ago. A good performance first up on an unresponsive subcontinent pitch can't do any harm for him. If he's bowling well and taking wickets then he isn't likely to worry about his action and other technical problems.

Even in South Africa he bowled well in the first two tests and then pretty much struggled in the third one, his is a slingy action which makes it hard for him to bowl consistently and that's why good rhythm is vital in order for him to bowl well.

I don't think its fair to strip a team's review when a batsman is let off the hook due to inconclusive replays...

I would have thought bringing in a wrist-spinner with tailenders at the crease would have been a pretty obvious thing to do.

Over-rate won't matter if we bowl them out, btw in the context of this game this a pretty decent partnership in development but we have gotta ensure we don't allow the tail to wag otherwise a target of something between 180-200 could prove to be a tricky one for us.

Btw... if Doherty and Smith are bowling in tandem to make up for the slow over rate then that's just insane.
