What do you expect man? Only the very best of bowlers can do anything on these pitches. The bottom line is it is the batsmen who have put us in this difficult position, not the bowlers.
Once the batting fails the onus is on the bowling group to keep us alive in the contest, for the last two days we have been rubbing the ball on fire yet we have hardly seen any reverse which is the only way one is going to get a wicket in these conditions.

Anyways a wicket still can open the flood gates here given how long the Sri Lankan tail is.

I don't know what Johnson is shaking his head for, he should stop bowling such genuine filth if he doesn't like getting hit around.

Eranga and Herath can bat, so not that long.

Eranga 4/65 off 23.3

Australian bowlers 5/354 off 128
I am not sure what that's supposed to mean. The Aussie bowlers - barring Mitchell - have maintained good discipline against batsmen who have made an international career playing on these decks. They haven't let the match slip away and the Lankan batsmen have played percentage cricket.

Eranga, although a debutant, looks to be a promising pace bowler and the Aussie batting was woefully short on discipline. Credit where credit is due, the guy took advantage and got some wickets.

A linear comparison between Eranga's figures and the Aussie bowlers' figures doesn't reveal a lot, IMHO. Just that one set of batsmen have kept their heads down and ground it out better than the other set.

Our batting was bad but all three Sri Lankan quicks moved the ball throughout the innings and that played a part in us not scoring that many, compared to that both Siddle and Johnson have bowled a generally short length on a wicket that hardly has any life in it which has blunted their chances of being effective in these conditions.

Edit: Also would be worth it for Lyon to ball a few overs over the wicket now.

Maybe Haddin should stand up to Mitch with Prasana taking guard a foot out of the crease?

Obviously the bowling's been short and wide all innings, with Sri Lanka rollocking along at 2.77 RPO.
Are you following the game based on stats..!? The run rate is low because likes of Watto and Copeland have bowled good line and length and kept the scoring rate in check whereas likes of Siddle and Johnson have undone any pressure created by them.

The Sri Lankan quicks didn't run through the Aussie side, as even you'd admit. There was sustained discipline and the Aussie batsmen's indiscretion caused their undoing.

I'll give you Johnson, but I disagree that the other Aussie bowlers have been particularly rank. Length could be argued, but even Siddle has made an effort to pitch it up and the one he got Sanga with bounced off the seam.
The one problem is that none of them, Watson excepting, seems to be adept in swinging it Irish. As you rightly point out. And that perhaps can be marked as some homework to be done in the nets.

I don't think Siddle has been that bad. But it does look like Pup is buying into the Johnson as golden arm myth. Johnson having bowled more overs than Copeland, Siddle and Watson is pretty incongruous.

Has to be said that Lady Luck hasn't been smiling on Copes in this innings. Lad certainly deserves more than the one wicket that he's had.
