I just can't get on board with this Aussie batting line up as it's one of the weirdest I've ever seen

5. Inglis
6. Carey
7. Webster
8. Connolly

2 keepers at 5-6 and 2 batting allrounders at 7-8 to weaken the bowling is just too funky for me

Still don't think the pitch is turning all that much. Don't know if rolling has something to do with it as the ball started turn a lot later in the day before going benign again this morning.

And strengthen the batting. They will need every bit of that extra batting here

Have always defended Marnus but surely if he continues to play like this, would only be a matter of time till Green gets fit enough to swap in straight. He has been getting out to Jadeja regularly playing of the backfoot back in 23 and has not learnt a thing
Yeah I think overall he's a solid low-40s averaging guy, which is perfectly fine, but this has gone on for ages now, and unlike a year or so ago, there's a few younger blokes now putting their hands up.

These are Australia's batting number's since the last WTC.

Not great viewing overall, but marnus has been notably worse than all the other top 7 bat's who played a meaningful period of time.

I think what's extra frustrating/questionable about Marnus over the past couple of years is that he's regularly been starting a series looking horrible before eventually working out a way to score, which seems to simultaneously convince people that he's found form again & allow them to overlook some of his careless dismissals because at least he made 60. I really don't want him to be binned forever because he could be so valuable at 3 for the next five years, but there are guys making a case to take his spot now.

He shows no inclination to want to learn either. Still plays those awful dab cuts then wonders why he gets caught in the slips or gully. Warner commentating on it this sumemr was interesitn, he got out that way after a start and Warner said wtte "I can tell you there will be senior players in the Aus dressing room very frustrated with that shot", so it's obviously not a secret.

Yeah that was a really interesting comment from Warner. There seemed to be similar frustrations with Carey last summer, but those leaked out into the media whereas I don't think anyone had been suggesting that about Marnus before Warner.

What I don't really understand is why they didn't go the same route with him that they did with Green and Carey, and leave him out of the ODI squad to play more Shield. I don't think playing ODIs is helping him much.

Lol that camera angle of the Smith decision from third man showing Wilson giving it and Khawaja making the review sign to Smith while the ump's finger is still in the air.

Love how DDS wasn't keen on bowling on the road in the first Test even though his four bowlers conceded a world record score, but felt he should open the bowling on this surface.
