It's odd though, they are good balls, but they are eminently leave-able.

Ponting's really picking up that short delivery early, evidenced by those two brilliant pull shots. I still definitely think that his current problem is mostly mental.

Philander isn't that special imo. Just an average medium-fast bowler that is thriving in these seaming conditions.

I disagree. He looks quite the quality bowler for South Africa, have you seen his first class stats? Average medium-fast bowlers don't average 19 with the ball in first class cricket.
