I'm going off to polish the 99 world cup, you suddies can have the NATIONAL STANDARD BANK ODI TROPHY
It says something when you've got to cherish moments that happened 7 years ago...

What was it you were saying earlier about Australia being home and dry?

I don't think it was the greatest ever, but... what a game.

Goodnight and good game!

Okay all... this has been a fabulous match, thanks in no part to Ponting, Hussey, Gibbs and JOHAN (and *sigh* that Boucher hack), but also to Bracken (unsung hero) and Lewis and Kallis... those pies do make a tasty game.
Congrats to the Safricans, an amazing run-chase. Goodbye Mick, you tried and you died.
But one other set of congratulations are in order. To you people, here, on CricketWeb.net - the greatest cricket forums anywhere in the world - who have made reading this game the best experience I have ever had on forums. Ever.
Thanks for staying up late and adding to the vibe. I WILL get a copy of this game... I doubt there's been such an incredible rush ever before, including the Bevan innings.
Greg and I were in hysterics.

PS CricInfo is really, really suffering atm. A MYSQL error... now? Why would you be editing a MYSQL database now, of all time?
Code:
undef error - DBI connect('database=engine:host=abel20.cricket.net:mysql_client_found_rows=0','dbiaccess',...) failed: Lost connection to MySQL server during query at /usr/share/perl5/Engine/DB.pm line 28
PPS: Is this some sort of record?

7 needed. 6 balls. Wow. Wonder what masterstroke Punter will come up with now

Oi, Gilly
The usual - look around the field for the proper captain of Australia, realise that Shane Warne has retired from one-day international cricket, consult his magic 8-ball.

What did you bet on this time? And in future can you let us know what you bet on so I can make some money and bet on the opposite result.
HAH! You lose! I hope you didn't put money on the opposite of my bet, that being Australia to win the series. I just won myself a shed load of cash.

I'll trade having to have your name in my sig for some cash anyday. :D

When you don't listen to a friends advice this is what happens.

Give your money to me next time you think of betting on cricket. I will have some samosas.
If I listened to you, I wouldn't be $100+ up!!! (Should be $5000 up, Andy owes me money ;) :D)

I'll buy you a samosa though. :p

Dude.

Holy sweet mother of all things beautiful.

I can't really find the words to describe how awesome that game was.

Atleast it was not the world cup, thats all i can say.

Australia should have never got close to losing that match. Gibbs should have been caught by bracken and I dare say he dropped THE STANDARD BANK ODI TROPHY, doesn't quite have the same ring as dropping the world cup but either way.

In brighter news, England are in the **** in India.

I do believe Darren Lehman was the last captian of Australia, get your facts straight.

Ponting would be furious but he has himself to blame, he should never have bowled lewis after his first spell. Clark looked a much better option. ClarkE and symonds kept the runs down aswell.

You're right. I apologise wholeheartedly to all of CW for jumping the gun, particularly to that Dean guy, lest he make a thread about me and my arrogance.
Phew. Glad I posted this, really.

Seriously, amazing effort from South Africa. Gibbs was unbelievable, and Van Der Wath was great as well. I thought Lewis bowled some decent stuff in his last 2 or 3 overs (some crap too, obviously), but Johan still it a couple of almost perfect yorkers for six.

Have to wonder about Lewis' future in the Australian team though, given that his record so far is so awful. Bracken was the shining light, and I thought Symonds and Clarke did a decent job as well.

It wasn't the best ODI of all time (the bowling wasn't good enough, for one), but it was certainly the most surprising match I've ever seen.

Sets up a great test series ponting will be hell bent on crushing the suddies, lets just hope mick lewis gets a baggy green to even up the series.
