Personally, I always felt that Kasprowicz was the weakest link of the Aussie bowling lineup.
Bowling with McGrath, Gillespie and Warne I defy pretty much any other bowler in the World to not be the weak link.

Yeah, he did well in 2004. Our whole attack, at that time, gelled really well. McGrath, Gillespie, Kasprowicz and Warne. Then they got broken up for the 1st Ashes Test. Kasprowicz, in that period, really kept things tight and chipped in with the odd pole. Like most of our bowlers, though, he doesn't look the same bowler without McGrath in the team.
i dunno i think he still looks prety good without McGrath cause if you remember McGrath played his 1st test in 2004 until the India tour & immediately was back to his best. While Kasper was playing all the time & did well vs SRI home & away & in the home summer vs NZ & PAK.

For me he was the 2nd best fast bowler overall for 2004 just edging out Dizzy who just was fantastic on the Indian tour & average for the rest.

Heh, I like that; Australia is going to SA with an under-manned bowling attack and NOW Kallis says he's going to cash in. Not the way to shake the 'minnow basher' tag, Jacques!

Oh what! Cut him some slack. He averaged 55 in the three Tests he played against (a McGrath and Warne) Aus this summer. Self-less runs, too.

It was only a co-incidence that his runs benefited the team this time. :D

Kasper's selection is proof that Australia have very little in terms of good, young bowlers coming thru the ranks.

Even the u-19 team has pretty average bowlers - mind, barring Henriques none of the other pacers were particularaly skilled at moving the ball around. All they could do was bang it in at reasonable pace.
Oh and btw, Mcnamara and Holland aren't all that great either - they were primarily responsible for letting Pakistan recover from 5-87 to 280 in the u19 wc semi.

Here's a new word for you, one you're obviously not aware of;

tact

1. Acute sensitivity to what is proper and appropriate in dealing with others, including the ability to speak or act without offending.

admitedly other than Tait ATM no other young bowler i.e Johnson or bird have set the world on fire with their bowling performances, but picking back Kasper or Dizzy isn't much of a problem once they can still do the job at the highest level, age doesn't matter.

Ouch. I think he's better than he's shown so far. Flintoff was rubbish for the best part of his career. Not that it means Watson should be given an extended run of underperformances because Flintoff was, but it takes time to find feet at international level, especially as an all-rounder. I mean, look at Symonds. The guy is practically God in the ODI arena and rubbish at test level so far. And what's made it even more for difficult Watson is the amount of interruptions he's had from injuries. He starts to really build up some international credibility and confidence and it gets slammed by a large time on the sidelines with injury.

Personally, I think 1 or two more years in and around the Aussie squads and he could really be ready to go. Depends if injury kills him off.

Johnson, though, needs more time at state level. He needs to find the right lines and lengths, and once he does, he could potentially be a force.

Does anyone take Thommo seriously though? I reckon he's one of the most pathetic figures in cricket. Always bagging the crap out of someone or trying to be controversial, in order to get his name up in lights. Oh, and nobody was as quick as Thommo. Just ask Thommo.
HAHA, yeah. The guy's a jerkoff.

I wish one day the media would just not publish one of his stupid comments. He can say what he likes, but don't shove it in our face all the time.

Bird impressed me a great deal in the ING cup final. The first time I'd seen him bowl a good spell and he was extremely dangerous. Swing and pace and surprisingly accurate. He was outshone at the end of the day by Tait, but Bird was the one who won NSW the game.

Aus selectors strike again - Watson and Hogg out and replaced by Symonds (understandable) and LEWIS (cantbowl, bat or field).

What a joke!

Replace 2 of our better bowlers with an absolute hack!

Can someone please tell me why Johnson, Hogg and Watson were brought on this tour if they insist on giving people who are obviously not international standard games before them?

I knew Merv and Boonie were dumb but this takes the cake.
