I was about to criticise Ponting for bowling Warne when Clark should clearly be on and that happens!

Anyway, every Aus captain has so much faith in Warne that he's bowled all day whether it's good or bad and 99% of the time it's great.

However, they've wasted runs here today by not bowling Clark and Lee together.

Bring on Clark. There is no way he could bowl poorly with his form and these conditions.

Clark misses out, under-bowled IMO. Deserves MOTM if Australia chase this easily.

Stuff Warnie.

Would have been the second cheapest ever, then?

Unfortunate for Clark, but 9 on debut is spectacular. Far from a fluke as well - he deserved all of his wickets. Bowled accurately and intelligently, and used the conditions perfectly. Very keen to see how he goes for the rest of the series when the pitches are flatter. Could be a revelation if he keeps it up.

I've been disappointed with Kasprowicz personally. His figures this game aren't that bad, but he just hasn't impressed me with his bowling, aside from his new ball spell on day 1 when he was getting some outswing. I'd very much like to see Gillespie there. Could be quite a formidable attack with Lee in form and Clark bowling like he did in this test.

Indeed, he has been superb. I havent seen him today as Im watching the England game but the figures speak for themselves
I do not wish to tempt providence (no, really I don't) but there is more than a touch of the Glenn McGraths about Clark. Two questions spring to mind:

a) Has he got a big gob?
b) Can he run backwards on cricket balls?

As TC said, real test for Clark will come on a flat wicket as this pitch was perfect for him.

However, at 6 ft 6 ins with reasonable pace (got up to 140 ks this morning), moving it both ways and maturity, I was really impressed.

Nice change to see a back-up bowling that was accurate and with smart.

Certainly is. I thought the McGrath comparisons were pretty silly before this test, but he certainly put in a solid mini-me performance. Doesn't move it as much as McGrath when conditions are helping, isn't quite as accurate and isn't as clever with his variations, but he's close on all counts.

One of the things that really impressed me was his bouncer. Every time he bowled it, the batsman seemed absolutely shocked. I don't know if its just because he uses it so sparingly or something about his action that hides the change, but it looked really dangerous.
