I mean, really, Cricinfo has such poor writers for a site with its profile. Achingly bad.

The worst are those articles about some club cricketer talking about surviving the good net or whatever. Who. The ****. Cares.
I don't really mind that, to be honest.

You can just ignore those articles.

It's the fact that someone like Moonda - who doesn't really like cricket I don't think and holds ordinary fans in contempt - is one of the main writers on the site.

It's obvious she only got the gig cause she's married to Telford Vice.

How many players in the current SA squad has ever lost a series in Australia?

ETA none.
It's strange that these 2 teams keep losing to each other at home, Saf were a better team than Aus for much of the last 7-8 years so it's a little weird how they couldn't beat a team that was pretty average compared to what it used to be.

The two match series in 2011 was their big missed opportunity. Australia would have been psychologically shattered after losing the 47 a.o. match and SA should have defended 300+ in the 4th innings in Jo'burg.

The 2014 series came at a good time for Australia with Mitch still in fire-breathing dragon mode, and Harris fit to play.

Well hopefully in Feb 2018 we can sort that home issue out.

Most of the guys should be still around.

Yeah, that 2011 2nd Test a massive missed opportunity by South Africa. Had Australia on the ropes multiple times in that 4th innings but could never finish it off. Always thought Graeme Smith erred when Australia were 5 down on the final day and lost quick wickets by not bringing on Tahir straight away and instead going for the safe option of Kallis.

Also, I heard someone on talkback radio suggest that Faf should’ve sent Australia in to bat in Adelaide because their batting lineup was a mixture of demoralised batsmen after Hobart or batsmen making their debut. Instead, by batting first he let Australia’s bowling (clearly their strength) set the agenda.

It’s an interesting theory (perhaps nothing more than that) and I think it also applies even moreso to the 2nd Test of that 2011 series. Instead by batting first he enabled Australia’s bowlers and debutant Pat Cummins to set the agenda of the match.

It is disappointing, but some Aussies have had brilliant individual performances in South Africa.

Likewise, the 2008 series in Oz was one that got away from us as we dominated the vast majority of the series

not nearly as much as the 2012-13 series in Oz where we absolutely dominated the 1st 2 tests, denied by rain and Faf, and ended up losing 1-0 in perth

Whatever it takes!!!
Yeah.. think Aus were beaten pretty comprehensively in 08.. 2012-13 was just an amazing and incredible series to watch/follow. Tiring the lead bowlers of the opposition out of the series has become a legitimate tactic for touring teams since then.
