It’s interesting how Warner and others are publicly backing Bancroft to get back into form.

Based on his Test career to date, that innings was pretty much close to standard. He’s only reached 30 once and couldn’t even manage it in Melbourne twice where even Stuart Broad cracked a half-century.

Anything’s possible but there’s been very little since Brisbane to suggest Bancroft has got what it takes at this level.

Walking wicket. Not what you want at the top of the order.

If they really don't want Renshaw either then just pick Cowan. Mediocrity is at least better than crap.

Really? Of course they're going to say that. You're not going to go and say that you don't think he should be in the team or that he's **** when you're in the middle of playing (or about to play) a Test match with him as a teammate

I don't think it's a case of not wanting to pick Renshaw. He's only just found form and was dropped because he was batting with a stump at the start of the season and Bancroft was killing it.

He may have made the squad if the Shield season had restarted a couple of weeks earlier.

Sadly we're probably stuck with him for now unless he really fails.

I love the guy and deserves a great ending to his test career but with Steyn on his way back and a couple of young guns around that is why I am ok with Morras retiring. He just hasn't been able to stand up against Australia. Been to leaky on this wicket and not threatening enough.

He will probably prove me wrong now.
