Literally depends on which ABdV shows up. The "make batting look ridiculously easy for 40 runs and then get out randomly" one or the real one.
If it's a low scoring series AB is invaluable. If it's a high-highish scoring one then not that much imo.

If it's anything like the normal Durban then it will either be reverse, spin or batsman frustration that gets wickets. Patience will be the name of the game. PE will be similar.

Sir Don Bradman actually rang up Doc Ali Bacher to tell him Jonty's fifty in that famous SCG win was one of the best he had seen. Remember how turgid that pitch was. Think the RR was below 2

That's why I love this stuff. Seeing all the old footage which included his first test 100 in Sri Lanka. Should have seen young Murali
Fannie's 6fer in the 4th innings was awesome

Yeah so skilful and quick enough.

It was a proper nut to get Slater.

Jonty said Kepler told them if they got Border early on the 5th day they can win this. Donald stood up.

Good toss for Steve Smith to win.

Might be something in the first session but how much debatable.

Would love to see Starc's bowling treated with disdain this series. Esp by Philander.

"Sadly, we have only about 120 people in the ground. Very quiet," says Firdose. It's a great pity, as this ought to be a humdinger of a contest.
Seems like no one cares about the Aussies coming to tour, Burgey.

Watching in conversation with Jonty Rhodes before the test.

Think he was SAs most popular cricketer amongst the youth in the country in the 90s.

An inspiration.
As someone who was a youth in the 90s, I can confirm that.

Although kids these days don't know who he is - a few years my sister, who is a primary school teacher, went with a group of friends to the domestic T20 final as a result of one of them winning a competition. At the time Standard Bank were sponsoring it and Rhodes was involved as their representative, so they got to meet him and it was a no-brainer that they'd have a photo taken with him. But when she regaled the story to her pupils, their response was "That's the guy who hands out the prizes".

de Bruyn comes in. No Mulder or Ngidi. Fair enough imo.

Without Starc and Cummins that Australian lower order looks awful. MMarsh, Paine at 6/7..eugh.

It still looks awful. Starc is massively overrated with the bat.

Never have I not wanted a Test series to start more than now..especially given how much I am looking forward to this series. As I was watching stuff coming up on Cricinfo about this series and the warm ups, I was hoping it would not start for another week or so which is the exact opposite usually, I can't wait cricket to start. I just have so much going on..my next 2-3 weeks are fully locked and I just won't be able to watch or focus on this series the way I want to :(
