Khawaja 20 of 37 behind square. Interesting strategy.
Reverse-sweeps , late cuts , leg glances, edges.

When Uzzie gets in he is a boundary hitter. Really need to dry him up and make him put pressure on himself.

Without checking, fairly sure ABDev did that quite a bit too. Takes a special player to trust yourself on a slow deck like that. Khawaja has that touch when in nick.

Good God at that pull shot from Marsh off Ngidi. Save your legs.

Ngidi could really do a job here if he errs on the side of fuller, one feels.

Even before he could defend, when Mitch Marsh hit the ball, it stayed hit. One of the cleanest hitters around.

Need Khawaja and M Marsh to step up and score the bulk of the runs here. Big partnership needed to keep us in the game.

Can someone remind me when was last time SA bossed a test at home against top side? Even if they win it is always after a close fight in at least 3 of the 5 days imo

Yeah but that wasn't the problem wither other review that DeKock said was missing, and he was right, but Faf went upstairs anyway. Can't just blanket disregard the bowler and the 'keeper when they're in the best position. They just need to be better at not screaming their heads off like it's deadset plumb when it's missing by 10cm.

Pretty impressive knock from khawaja. He doesn't usually do ugly gritty knocks does he?
He actually does this exact sort of knock a lot: team is way behind on the first innings, puts together an impressive looking start (having done little in the previous few innings), but falls when set. It's definitely a pattern.

Won't make a difference to this game, ofc. SA have just been too good all around, I don't even think Aus have played terrible cricket, some of the 1st innings batting aside.

Quite the opposite with regards the bowling, was pretty damn good overall. SAffers bowling has just been even better and their batting significantly better.
