Go around the wicket Mitch and try to kill him (or knock off stump out of the ground)

EDIT: Seriously, Abbott would be lucky to get in the same postcode as one on the stumps from that angle

I don't get the standing ovation. He hasn't done anything yet in this match except for get injured.

Will MJ try to hit Steyn here? Would be a lot of butthurt in the crowd if that happens. Is he fair game?

he's fair game.
Not sure about inflicting more pain on an injured player. Intimidate him with bouncers and pace but not sure about deliberately bowling at his ribs. Go for his head, it at least gives him a chance to duck. Getting out of one aimed at the ribs requires footwork and he might not be quick enough considering his hammie.

Shouldn't have come out to bat, then. Bloke's won a Test against us with the bat, he shouldn't get any leniency.

As demonstrated.

Nah it's completely unfair to expect the bowling side to let someone off easy because they're injured. They should be doing whatever they can to get him out as cheaply and/or as quickly as possible. They shouldn't be looking to keep him out there so they can keep hitting him and prevent him bowling or anything like that, but if they think giving him a couple of rib ticklers is the best way to get him out cheaply/quickly then they absolutely should.
