*Official* Australia in Pakistan 2022

Whatever it takes!!!
The worry is how much the ball will do in terms of reverse from overs 30-60.. After that the kook should get so soft that the swing won't matter and may not be so late and prodigious.... If these two can see them through to at least over # 50, they have a decent shout of surviving today.
:) The Aussie batting coach agrees...

When the ball was hard and reversing we got a couple of breakthroughs and were able to put a hole in them. Today they got through that, the ball softened and it doesn't do as much. We probably thought there might have been a bit more in the wicket today as far as spin and variable bounce [were concerned], but once the ball softens, there was occasionally, but those chances just didn't come for us."

Gonna say, how they start against the new ball with both seamers and spinners tomorrow.. the first 10 overs and then overs 25-50 or so woud be the toughest. If Pak can bat through those without losing many wickets, game should be a draw or even a win.

350 to win instead of 310 looks way out of reach for Pakistan which brings me back to the point I made earlier today of aus going at 4.5 rpo only losing two wickets instead of 7 rpo while losing 8 wickets in the same number of overs. They called me a mad man

if they can maintain ~3 rpo over the 1st two sessions without losing more than 1 or 2 wickets, they can legitimately up the tempo and push for a win in the last session...

pakistan aren't going for a win unless theyve legitimately lost no wickets after lunch

Pakistan isn't chasing this. They might draw it, but realistically Aus are three wickets from basically having it won.

If they somehow survive the reverse later on with this new ball they’re in with a good shot of drawing I suppose. Imam and Azhar enjoy a bit of tuktuk so them being out is really quite massive.

tbf even if azhar and imam didn't enjoy a bit of tuktuk having two extra top order wickets in hand is generally good, even if they're trav head and mark ramprakash

Faheem could go LO mode later on if they are set up. But really dont see it as an odds on option on this track. And unless Faheem is promoted, if he is out there, it usually means they are not far from a tail lollapse, so they may still not go for it at all.
