*Official* Australia in Pakistan 2022

The tempo of the Pakistan innings has felt odd. Before Babar came to the crease it looked like they were attempting a South Africa style deadbat, after it it feels like they're going for it.

Pakistan playing like I think will make Australia happy.

This has been a good partnership. Probably had to happen at some point, this Test has otherwise been far too easy for Australia.

Whatever it takes!!!

I just think Babar has very wisely decided blockathon is not his style and is giving himself the best chance of staying there, which is to play normally. He is not being any more or less aggressive than he would be say on day 1 batting first. And for most batsmen, I feel that is the best way to approach these situations.

If Australia bowls like today, i doubt it
Pakistan let them bowl that way though. Not saying Pak are gonna do it, but I definitely expect them to bat much better next time. At least, I hope so, I guess. Still think track is not doing as much as Pak made it seem today when they batted.
Reverse swing? Some of those Starc, Cummins and to a lesser extent Green deliveries were really handful. I cant remember the last time Aust got the ball to reverse this much this early

Told ya. :)

I'm reminded a lot of the Malan/Root partnership at Brisbane. That went long enough to put Australia under a little bit of pressure, but Australia came back a day later and easily finished off England. Can see the same thing happening here.

Subcontinental conditions does make it interesting though. Most positions where Australia had an off session or two then restarted normal business came in Australia, I do wonder whether it being at home might make a miracle slightly more likely. Problem is that 4th innings totals seem to max out around 450 runs or 150 overs. Which is to say, Pakistan saving or winning this Test is unprecedented in the modern era (actually the latter is unprecedented full stop)

Abdullah Shafique is a gun discovery. Rushed into Tests but has looked the part so far, great call by selectors and team management. How lucky are Pakistan to uncover talent like this out of nowhere.

Hope these two bat out the day + most of tomorrow. Will make things really interesting.

Huge effort. Really hope this isn't Laxman/Dravid 2.0.

Still struggle to see Pakistan winning but at the very least I think they probably should take this at least somewhat deep and the draw looks fairly realistic.
