Once again our batsmen's lack of ability to grind the opposition into the grind bites us. Good bowling from Pak but uzzie and Carey gave there wickets away. Smith and particularly green copped some good nuts but the way they played them didn't make it look very good.

Nah they did that twice in two innings. You have to take the catches in these conditions. Smith holding on to that catch of shafiq last game aus go 1 zip. Even today they could have been 3 or 4 down. Got to catch ****

Long term Pakistan need Hasan Ali to get his **** together and start reversing it again. Or get Faheem in. I don't know what's happened to Yasir Shah. Prime Yasir would easily have swung this series in Pakistan's favour imo. The uncles have been a letdown. Batting is decent for these roads but going forward, Pakistan need to master reverse again if they decks continue to be roads. Abbas too would've been a handful if he could get that same prodigious reverse he got in 2018. Two spinners is a must and Shadab is the clear fix to that problem.

This balance is totally unsustainable anyway. Either Faheem or Shadab has to come in. I'd even consider both in tbh.
Awkward thing about Shadab I guess is that he turns it the same way as Yasir and Nauman. It's Sajid that needs to go.

Yea Nauman at 7 is unsustainable TSTL. Faheem Ashraf should definitely be playing regardless. Both Faheem and Shadab would be too light on bowling imo. Faheem + Yasir would be dope if Yasir is still good. I'm not sure why they're moving on already tbh. Hasan Ali's form makes such a huge difference to this attack. He bowled like a demon against SA last year and now he's dishing up 132kph half volleys searching for the wonder ball. That makes the pace attack far too inconsistent on the whole. Abbas.

wondering how this game could go. If pakistan play the whole day tomorrow, they achieve parity. If they do that for say 3 wickets, then they can set the game up by gaining a lead around 150. If they get bundled out for something close to 400, Aust can set the game up on day 4.

Yeah surprised not to have heard more about Nawaz lately.
I think Faheem is undroppable in this side. Hasan is mostly back to his old self IMO. I think its much more likely that he hit a purple patch last year rather than sustainable development. Or its a mental thing right now. He was getting taken for runs against SA too but persisted with his plan, here he seems to lose his focus. On the Pak team discussion, @nightprowler10 @trundler and @Prince EWS - if you guys were anyways gonna play the uncles, I would have rather seen if Shoaib Malik can play as the #6/7 and asked him to chuck his doosras for a test, winning it and then producing the roady mcroads for the last two tests. Unfortunately, Rambo seems way too intent on scoring some imaginary points over the BCCI to look at what his team actually needs.
Also, is (3) really better than the uncles? Or is just as a #7 option that he is being discussed here?

Shoaib Malik retired from Tests a while back after hitting a double ton opening.
Nawaz is definitely a worse bowler than Nauman, it's just totally insane to have Nauman at 7 long term. I guess they were just banking on another slow road here where you need a proper fifth bowler a lot more than you need someone who knows which endof the bat to hold at #7 (and they seem correct so far tbf).
