The spell Tim Southee bowled to them on day one at the Gabba last year would do the job too.You mean the kind of spell that my beloved WI had against Australia in the recent tests where we bowled them out for less than 160? i certainly wouldn't bet on it!!.
A pretty good day for Australia, after a disciplined bowling effort by NZ early on (even if not terribly penetrative - Australia's dismissals were partially caused by poor cricket).

To be fair most of NZ's wickets are going to look that way. They don't have explosive swing and pace bowling so their main line of attack will be defence, in a way - focus on discipline and accuracy and force the batsman to make the stroke out of not too much. Not that that is in any way a bad idea, as it works on patience which is something of a potential weakness for some of our guys - Hughes, Clarke about three months ago.
You're right, generally speaking - but the Ponting dismissal in particular had very little to do with the bowling and was still poor cricket. Hughes' dismissal was him going hell bent for leather and edging it after scoring boundary after boundary - it didn't have all that much to do with the NZ bowlers tying him down, because he came and went in a flash.
As for Michael Clarke, it was common of him to flay in the air through the offside during his first spell in Test cricket (2004/05-2005/06), but whilst he's always suffered from brainsnaps, he's been notably less impetuous during his second run (2006/07 onwards, excluding the BAN tour)

I like how he's always attributed that in part to how Bingle has affected his life and way of thinking. I also like how he thanked her today after his knock. It takes a mature mind to block out the pain and still be able to pick the positive aspects from an experience such as that. That, if anything, is more pleasing for the future of his career than getting his hundred today.
