Yeah, but thats not Pontings problem if NZ drop him a number of times. Cricket is about making the most of your opportunities. NZ didn't take theirs and Ponting did.

Yeah, I would have said Ponting or Clarke. Just found it strange that Cricinfo has nothing about it

It's just like Bill Lawry with his 'Bang!'
C'mon, when a player hits the ball like Styris did, to bring up his 50, are you thinking "Bang!" or "Whacki-de-do!"?

Lawry is king.

Smith tried to get under his skin last summer and Lawry ate him for breakfast: "New Zealand were a B-side in my day."

To be perfectly honest, I don't think much of cricket commentary. Rugby commentary is even worse.

I agree. I remember lawry totally outclassing Mark Nicholas when they were in the box together last something. My dream match-up would be Lawry and Boycott - Those 2 would be Magnificent together

Smith is ok, Just when he goes on and on.

Like McCullum dropped that catch, He went on about it to the end of the game. And McCullum did fix it didn't he?

Yeah McCullum did make up for it..although I agree that there are some elements to his keeping that need addressing. He needs to stop standing in front of the stumps when a throw comes in. Although apparently there's a theory behind it by the coaches at the Academy, im not really convinced about it however.

Yeah he makes mistakes, But did smith really have to spend a whole ODI going on about.

When McCullum come into the side his keeping was sub-par but now he is getting better and better

Part of the problem with McCullum was that he had a dodgy knee. Im not sure if he still has the problem but when he first came into the team, he wasn't really able to go full stretch or take ackward catches because his knee potentially could have locked up.

He made a bad error the other day dropping Ponting but by in large he's becoming very good with the gloves, and he's also very talented with the bat...but thats been known for some years now.

i guess Smith complains when McCullum drops a catch is due to the fact that he was a great keeper and wants perfection from the wicketkeeper that represents NZ. he sumtimes forgets that they are human after all.

Those were the days. I think Lewis bowled a lot better length in this game.
