As I seem to have to keep repeating, it's the consistency of the strength.
I am not ignoring your point.

But your implication - let me phrase it word to word 'consitency of strength' is such a rarity that Australia has rarily been tested at that level.

So they cannot be discounted based on 1 close series as a team which they did not win.

Alright fella's, it's time to end that discussion in this thread, at least anyway. 3rd ODI is about to start in about an hour's time.

Close?

As in SA vs England close you mean?
what the ashes was close?

anyway back to the NZ/AUS series, looking foward to seeing Johnson bowl & its nice to see all these youngsters getting a chance in the aussie team now, just the other day i was wondering when the next generation of aussie players would get the chance to play at the international level with the side being so dominant. The ashes defeat has really helped. Hopefully Jaques, Cullen & probably Cosgrove will be on show before the next ashes

That's where our real young talent lies, within those three gents. And one or two others.

Coney reckons its a 250+ wicket.

Mills is bowling a pretty good line & length and Martin has been ok. I think after 10 overs, it'll be a good pitch for batting on.

Marc/Pratyush - take your discussion out of this thread please, sounds like it would be more appropriate on MSN!

Well, McCullum dropped a catch for the first time in awhile. But it continues a trend of NZ continuing to drop key catches, they've got to sort it out.

The fielding standards of all teams over the last 2 years have been appalling. Even Australia have looked poor in the field at times.

Ponting is struggling a bit. but 36/2 is ok right now..if it gets to 100/2 then it could be cause for concern.

We need to get Symonds in early though, otherwise we will be chasing plenty most probably.

It seems as though the trend in this series is set to continue with Ponting starting to make us pay.

Well the pitch is settling down and I think we're definately going to see 250+
