For NZ to have even half a chance, there needs to be enough runs to get the ball reversing. Just in that territory now, so need at least 100 more runs I'd imagine.

Yeah fair call, if these guys can score runs as freely as they have, anything less than 250 will be done in a canter (unless Southee and Boult miraculously swing the ball again..).

Good batting yous two.

Also really want enough that you have a chance to get the second new ball if you keep the runs down in the first 80 - so that's something around 280.

Screw the spirit of the game, I hope we work the ball harder than the Aussies and get it reversing earlier than the 20th. Swear they've been doing something dodgy to it to get it reversing so early.

#WP#11 to come as well.

Boult currently 6th on the all time # 11 runs chart. Needs 7 runs to overtake Anderson. Also has the most 6s by a #11 ever with 17. (Walsh 16, Murali 14)

I hope as Henry walks in for tea he looked Southee straight in the eye with total disgust.

As for the match state, I think NZ are batting for a draw now. Just not long enough left to set a decent target on this pitch, unless there's some sort of total calamity in the Australian innings.

Mind you, I've thought that a fair few times before with this side and they've surprised me with a great bowling effort.

Prove me wrong kids! Prove me wrong. :D

There's a full day left. Half of this session could yield another 80-100 odd runs if we get lucky. A target of 280 is winnable for the bowlers if they bowl well.

They're definitely not batting for the draw.

Take a bottletop out and use it on the ball, then let the umpires see and declare it "fair for both sides!" ala Chris Pringle at Lahore.

I didn't word it too well, I meant that's the best result I'm hoping for.
