Yeah this was my initial thought, but wouldn't that run into exactly the same question? IIRC the caveat in both laws is identical.
I think there may be a distinction without a difference, but on the face of things I think it's easier to argue an act of handling was wilful as opposed to an act of obstruction, but the self-protection problem is still there - remarkable really that the nuances of watching at one speed are so different at another - the next time I have to look at evidential CCTV my mind will be rather more open - useful lesson

Once again, why have those little clip on things that go around the back of the neck not been made mandatory yet?

Fun batting this.

Buttler has been disappointing this two matches. I would have really loved to see Root play this series. Too bad he's rested.

Didn't think about how deep our batting would be with Plunkett in, almost as much as Australia's. It's a shame the lower-middle order couldn't keep us in the game long enough for this sort of charge to have any promise.

Starc has been great value this summer - right up there with Thommo as one of my favourite Aussie cricketers

Morgan's knock really wasn't that good. Needed to change the momentum of the game earlier. Possibly once Stokes was out because the crowd wanted to be lifted at that point. By the time he tried to get after it the game was gone. Seemed to forget everything he was preaching earlier in the summer.

So....Agar for Watto with Marsh 6 next game and replacement (presumably Khawaja) for Warner?

Actually, after thinking about it...Finch may get the call up as he's back playing cricket and it would be the most logical one as he's already in England.

Smith on booing: "it was disappointing...

lol if Smith can't understand a partisan crowd. Still I don't blame him for appealing or the umpire for giving it out. At that speed I don't think you can be sure it was deliberate, it just looked instinctive - but the hand does move towards the ball.

Really don't think Morgan should be trying to take the moral high ground either by saying he wouldn't have appealed. Let the situation calm down and move on. Kinda deflects from the poor performance. If it was a big game make

Not sure why Smith is copping it for not calling him back. Surely Morgan should be copping it for arguing with the umpire's decision?

Right decision IMO. Hardly a natural movement for your arm.

Anything that hastens Stokes' departure from the ODI side is fine by me. Waste of a jersey at the minute.

He would have played the full series regardless, but this incident has taken all the pressure off of him. He gets to play the victim now.

Another loss, another thrashing for England by the hands of Australia. These ODI contests between those 2 teams are pointless now. Stokes (New Zealand) wouldn't have made a difference to the result due to the margin of defeat. His average speaks for itself.
