***Official Australia in India***

There is no point picking him, would be better off picking another batsmen.
White himself is a more of a batsman who rolls his arms over, but he hasn't been able to do much with the bat, but there is no sense in going in with 8 out and out batsmen either, so if he were to replaced by anybody, then i guess Krezja was the only choice, but after seeing the way Krezja went in the tour game, obviously the Aussies didn't feel confident enough to pick him.

I don't think the aussies did too much wrong today, need a bit of luck on a deck like that. Two early wickets tomorrow and aussies are back in it.

I said. Pretty much right. Not sure McGain would have made much of a difference tbh.
Yeah he would have, from whatever i have seen of him he is a very accurate leg-spinner and that's exactly the kind of spinner Australia need, a bloke like him could have tied one end up and build pressure up from one end letting the Aussie quicks attack from the other end, atm the Aussie quicks hardly have any respite as they are bowling most of the overs right through the day.

They were mentioning on the radio this evening that the worst thing about the Australian performance is that the bowling attack is pretty much at full strength. And they're pretty much right unless Australia don't play a spinner.

What an innings by Gambhir!

So damn pleased to see Gambhir do so well today. As one of the only few people on CW who actually rated him as an opener for India over Jaffer and Chopra, I'm extremely happy with the way he's played. Back to back test centuries with the potential to get a real big one!

Awesome stuff!

Or two quality spinners like Kumble and Mishra....

Two early wickets tomorrow and aussies are back in it
The Indians bat deep, as they have proved right through this series, so Australia would need a lot more than just 2 wickets in the morning session on day 2.

There isn't one, complete waste of time.

I can't believe this is the same team that was going mad over how awful Giles was.
Precisely....its a case of Australia wanting the extra batting to ensure they don't lose the series and thereby the Border Gavaskar trophy rather than going all out to win it.

India in a great position to ram home the advantage here.

I just heard Mohinder Amarnath nearly completely write off the Australian team. He said, if Cameron White is their best spinner, things are not looking good for Australian cricket. Allan Border, of course, countered, saying that the Aussies are still the #1 team.

He's not our best spinner. And his efforts show what happens when you get too clever about selecting bowlers on the basis of their batting, or their other non-bowling attributes. Casson or Kresja should be playing ahead of him here.

He's barely even a spinner, let alone our best.

The squad selection is the main reason we'll lose this series.

Making a lot of assumption there, especially given Warne, the greatest leg spinner of all time didn't have an amazing record in India. Also, when Warne did bowl in India he was younger than 36 and had played a lot more tests.

Assuming that White is one of the four bowlers, this is today's bowling figures...

B Lee 19 1 70 1 3.68
SR Clark 21 8 29 0 1.38 (1nb)
MG Johnson 17 1 69 2 4.05
CL White 4 0 27 0 6.75
Fifth bowler 28 5 92 0 3.28 (3nb)

I don't know why Ponting is bowling his fifth option a third of the overs on the first day, seems ridiculous.

India have played out the new ball well .... time to hit the sack, hoping that when i look at the score card tomm, one of these two would have got a 100 and put India in a good position
^ that sums up Day 1

hoping that India puts on a big total tomm
