Nah silly attitude IMO. Why bring him over at all then? If a batsman gets injured in warmup or something then the guy will play. It's important to have the right guy there for that very reason, even though it's not a particularly likely event.

Interesting in that the Indians are milking Hussey, don't smash him as he will get taken out of the attack, but milk singles off him and he stays on and the chances of getting out, reduce.

Even if that happens Australia already has 8 batsmen in their XI, they would be much better of playing with 7 batsmen and adding an extra bowler in that scenario, instead of picking the reserve batsman.

Heh, agreeing about the declaration. If Australia pull this off I'll get the highest scorer's name tat'd on my willy.

Then again Dhoni can probably see how good a deck this is and is wary of setting anything remotely possible.

Which is exactly what the Australian selectors have done the last two tours of India. On the last tour they took both White and Hauritz to gain experience, without selecting MacGill, and then what happened? Warne was injured. Now I know you might say that MacGill might not have done well in India, but there is no denying at that time he was easily Australia's 2nd best spinner. Same has happened on this tour. Australians fully expected McGain to play, but he was injured so Kreja who's gone for experience has been shown up and Siddle has had to play. Absolutely ridiculous.

This though just occurred, what's stopping India from getting a part timer like Sachin/Sourav from bowling a couple of overs where they run straight down the middle all the time not caring about whether they get barred from bowling another delivery?
