Dhoni goone, don't know what is wrong with that bloke, he looks utterly crap. he should just play like an ODI, surely he would get some more runs.

Pretty poor innings from Dhoni really. No intent, poor dismissal.

White's bowled okay the last few overs, pleasantly surprised overall there. India in deep trouble now though, can't really see a way out of it for them. Australia won't enforce the follow on, so they'd need to bowl brilliantly and then chase what will probably be 300+.

Ganguly has to do something pretty special with the tail now. At least Kumble can bat.

Anyone notice Mick Clarke bowling with a fairly good loop and good turn these days? Reckon he's been practising!

In all seriousness, when was the last time Aus had a left-arm spinner as good as he is? It'd depressing, really.

Has been taking bowling tips from the great man (SK Warne) too, so i guess that also helps.

Every time I've seen Dhoni bat in tests he's been extremely ordinary - doesnt seem to know whether to defend or attack and ends up doing nothing

White has been OK (has actually bowled a couple of balls with loop) but has benefitted from the incredibly negative mindset of the Indians

Lehmann?

In all honesty tho Ray Bright is the only specialist SLA bowler I can even name who's played tests for Oz of late. & that's stretching the definition of "of late" to breaking point, frankly.

Haha, if you believe Boof, he's bowling better than he ever has.

Nor was he all that good..... If Clarke bowled the same number of overs he did, would probably be better. Hopefully it doesn't come to that, though, because I'd hate to see his batting compromised.

Just woke up. How's this been going?

1. Why is Harbs in before Kumble?
2. Who's bowled well, who hasn't? Does Watson's bowling look good?
3. What's the pitch like?

So happy for Johnson. It's so important that our third seamer stood up especially with Clark having an off day. I'll be the first to admit I wanted Bollinger in the side before him, but he's really done well for himself here. Hope he keeps it up, he's the key for the rest of this series and if he keeps bowling well Australia won't have a problem maintaining the number one position.

Gotta say that even as a Watson fan, I'm surprised at the quality of his bowling today. His line hasn't been the best but he's bowled a good length and been hard to get away, and he's looked pretty likely to take a wicket at any time, though much more so over the wicket to the right-handers. Didn't really expect him to reverse the ball noticably or bowl as cleverly as he has.

Also bowled a long spell in the heat and kept it together the whole time.

Was an iffy decision (not a terrible one, but I'd have given it not out), but wicket was well deserved by the bowler.
Did give a pretty wakerish pursed lips to a ball that basically did nothing, then preceeded to stand in the middle of the wicket for what seemed like an eternity. Needs to really get that out of his game.

I hope Dhoni has a piss poor series and Kumble retires soon after these 4 tests just so that Dhoni misses out on the test captaincy.

Right from the series in Australia the Indian tail has been a real nuisance, and that seems to be the case here again, need to clean up the tail as quickly as possible, because the bigger the lead Australia can have here, the better it would be.

Both sides actually have very good tails. Kumble is better than an 8, Harbs better than a 9, not sure about Zaheer but Sharma's no 11.

Hit him outside the line of off stump - oh well. Ganguly played well and worked hard for his runs, if only Sehwag, Gambhir, Tendulkar and Laxman could have worked equally hard!

I completely agree with you, awesome effort from Mitch to bowl a long and effective 1st spell in humid conditions, i guess there is something in India that makes him bowl well here.

EDIT: As i type this he gets another wicket, brilliant effort from Mitch...
