Tendulkar, Laxman and Dravid are very good, and far better than the rest of the Indian batting lineup, and better than some leading batsmen of today.

That said, it's good to see the Indian A-team playing well- they are making strong statements out there with their performances. But one player of interest is Joginder Sharma- he has been bowling well (with that average of 22) and can also bat a bit (with an average of 28 and 4 50's). Nothing is said about his age, or his batting and bowling styles.

Okay guys, I've got a bit of a problem here - I can't make my mind up as to who I want to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy next month. As an Englishman, I passionately hate Australia, however I cannot stand the way we would get so many Indians who will undoubtedly proclaim their side as the greatest ever of all time ever should they win the series. So I want both teams to get whacked... and hence am confused.

Just remembered.....even that series might not be telecast.

ARY and TEN had jointly held cricket rights for Pakistan matches . The partnership has been dissolved I heard , and even those rights are sub-judice .

This match is just plain nonsensical. The worst part is that spies from the opposition camp will be watching (that reminds me- why can't Indian officials spy on English and Australian domestic matches?) and making notes. It also sends a negative signal- that they need a match against a lesser team to return to form.

How many YEARS will it take for the selectors to realise that Parthiv Patel is not of international standard? When he's 28? He's rewarded the selectors for extending his free ride by dropping Mohammed Kaif. Would MS Dhoni or Dinesh Karthik do the same? No way! With keepers like Parthiv Patel, Rahul Dravid and Virendra Sehwag may also be considered as wicketkeeper options.

Why is it non-sensical ? It gives valuable match practice and did you ever hear of something called video recording technology which is used to see how someon plays. So this logic of not exposing etc. is pure BS.

Are you saying that MS Dhoni and Dinesh Kartik won't drop a single catch or make a single mistake ? Man, we have two of the most perfect wickies in the history of cricket....eh ? i am curious how do you come up with these type of BS.

But Glenn McGrath knew better. He said that the pitches were flat, the key players were out and the rain helped the Indians. The Aussies still established their supremacy in ODI's. The Indians' performance in Australia must be the most over-rated of recent times.

And why was it overrated again ? When was the last time an Indian team came from a trip down under unscathed ? Go dust off your history books first before going on a rant.

Yes, to an extent it was.

Ive heard plenty of people saying India deserved to win the series and plenty of whinging about Bucknor's umpiring being the difference.
I dont agree with that, as you say the pitches were made for batting and Australia were missing their best two bowlers for the entire series.

But that dosent completely discount the fact India played far better than they have on past tours down under and they were certainly better than everyone expected them to be, they showed some guts and unearthed some precious youngsters.

Australia would have looked far better if they'd held catches like they did in 1999-2000-2001 sort of time.
Dropped catches cost so much in that series.

Accept that you're in a no-win situation and try to get the most of the benefits while ignoring the drawbacks?
So enjoy Australia losing while tolerating the "India are the best ever of all-time ever"ing, or:
Enjoy the fact that you have to endure neither and tolerate the "we're better," "no, we're better"ing, or:
Enjoy the lack of either but have to endure the "Australia are the best ever of all-time ever"ing for that bit longer (until next summer )

Or maybe it's just that the Indian batsmen know how to play spin a lot better than pace

India have only ever had trouble with seamers when there's been seam and swing.
Hence, if the Bangalore wicket isn't a seamer Indian batsmen won't have too many problems against pace.
In my experience, though, Bangalore tends to offer more than a bit to seamers.
