Certainly pretty even right now with India ahead by a slight margin. Despite what the commentators say, I don't think a lead of 128 can be considered a huge mental advantage against the Aussies. Indians have to bat sensibly for another session and a half and push the lead towards 200 because if Irfan and Zaheer get off to a bad start in 2nd innings, Hayden & Langer can catch up pretty quickly.Spetsnatz said:India will be hoping that when they bowl, Pathan and Zaheer can actually bowl well and get some wickets.
I think their opening spells are going to be very important -- India need early breakthroughs.
How do people see the game poised at luch and it progressing into the afternoon sessions ?
The way I see it he's prolonging his own ride and by no means is it coming free. He's worked hard for his runs this year and despite how much you (and myself as well) dislike him for his keeping, you can't take away his batting accomplishments from him. He has been solid for most of this year; not only scoring a lot but also scoring when the team is under pressure.Arjun said:Grrr.......why are the Aussies prolonging Patel's free ride? The longer he stays, the more the opposition will benefit.

Does any one also realise how many more wrong decisions (after the horrendous first test) have been prevented by btasmen walking. Instead of just criticising the batsmen for 'dissent' (amazing considering the batsman is the only one to lose), how cpome no one is discussing at the continuing bad umpiring.JustTool said:What the....?
Gilly has created a bunch of monsters who walk.
I can't fathom this lasting. Either the umpire is the FINAL arbiter or he is not. Disagreeing with him in any direction (out or not-out) is still dissent. What happens when you do have an inside edge, and let's suppose the fielding side appealed knowingly or unknowingly, and the umpire gives you out LBW ?
This is not a free ride. It is very well earned and not the first toime for Patel too. Free ride is what Yuvraj gets from his skipper !Arjun said:Grrr.......why are the Aussies prolonging Patel's free ride? The longer he stays, the more the opposition will benefit.
His batting is nothing special, and not of top-6 quality. Even yesterday, he was dropped twice. The bowling was also quite bad, as they didn't bowl straight enough. The fielding was also quite awful. Whenever he has crossed 50, he has been given quite a few chances, by drops, no-balls and dodgy decisions. Out of the 4 half-centuries he has made, 2 were made in easy conditions, and didn't matter much.TendulkarFan said:The way I see it he's prolonging his own ride and by no means is it coming free. Excellent post SJS. Just what I was going to post before seeing you had already done it.SJS said:Does any one also realise how many more wrong decisions (after the horrendous first test) have been prevented by btasmen walking. Havent the batsmen in fact saved the umpires from some more criticism (at least from the aggrieved parties) since the action replayes would show most of these decisions to be wrong anyway ?
There was a time when walking was considered not just good ethics (what a strange alien word) but also as a big helping for the umpires. I have heard some of the top umpires complaining that both batsmen and fielders could help make the umpires' job easier by being 'honest' (such a dirty word ?) in close decisions .
Today when they walk, WE, the fans are criticising them for 'dissent' !!
So everything is justified in the name of 'respecting' authority ? But sledging, shouting at umpires, refusing to listen to them inspite of repeated requests to calm down/behave...these are instances of 'justifed aggro' ??
A strange attitude indeed.
